    Upgrade Server 2008 Web x32 to Server 2008 Web R2 x64

    Hi,

We have a 4 server web cluster using the shared IIS config.  We are looking into upgrading to 2008 R2 Web x64 edtion.

Am I able to pull one machine from the cluster, upgrade it, re-join it to the cluster and so on, or is it not that simple when upgrading to x64?

    Many thanks

It is just that simple.  Unless you have to change configurations for anything to run in 64 bit.  :)

A better option is often to pull machines from the cluster, upgrade them, join them in their new cluster, swap the clusters and reconfigure the other machines for the new cluster.  But that's not exactly required.  And most of what you'll encounter isn't related to IIS.

Backup everything, try it with one, see what breaks.

    1st problem I get is:

More than one exclusive group is not allowed.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Security.Policy.PolicyException: More than one exclusive group is not allowed.

This is after adding enable32BitAppOnWin64="true" to the applicationHost.config for the app name of the site I am playing with and then setting Enable 32-Bit app to true.

Looking in the .NET Framework config, under runtime security policy, machine, code groups and I cannot see any duplicates, so already I'm puzzled!!
