Question about PHP 5.2.10 and 5.3.0 on IIS 7.5 64bit

     Hi,

    i have a working installation of php 5.2.9-2 on my IIS7.5 64bit server on Win2008 R2.

My questions about the newest versions:

1.) Ive tried out php 5.2.10 with fastcgi, but its veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow (half or less speed then 5.2.9-2 with ISAPI). But i didnt find any php5isapi.dll coming with the zip-package. I didnt find anything about that the php devs take it out, so i was wondering weather there is still a isapi.dll in the package.

2.) I have downloaded php 5.3.0 in the 64bit editions (thread safe + none ts). Are they really 64bit and is it better to install the non thread safe or the tread safe edidtion?

I read that in php 5.3.0 there is no longer a isapi support, but is it yet in 5.2.10 too? I prefer ISAPI cause in my opinion its much faster and i dont need the stability  of cgi.

    Hope i get some answers.

    Cheers Krauzi.

Hi Krauzi, I think the questions you posted can only be answered by PHP devs so you need to go to them. As this is an IIS forum, I think except the guys in PHP sub forum nobody has experience with PHP. http://forums.iis.net/1102.aspx

    Hi,

The 5.3.0 binaries are available as 64-bit but they are still only experimental apparently. And yes, ISAPI support has been removed as of version 5.3.0

    Hi,

As far as I'm aware that version still ships with ISAPI support but it isn't available as 64-bit.

Is there a specific reason why you want to use ISAPI ? If you're using IIS7 you should really be looking at using FastCGI :

    Hi,

If you're talking about version 5.2.10 then php5isapi.dll is in the root of the zip file here :

Re: Question about PHP 5.2.10 and 5.3.0 on IIS 7.5 64bit

hm thank you. i read that on windows systems, the non thread safe versions of php are better (dont know why, but i read it), so i downloaded the nts version. Any idea why the php5isapi is not included there?

And: On some of my scripts i get an AccessViolation with the php 5.2.10 php5isapi.dll. With the php5isapi.dll of my php 5.2.9-2 i do not have any problems. Any ideas about this?
