Failure of SQL Server 2008 with SP1 Download

Repeatedly, I have tried to install SQL Server only to have it fail for one reason or another.  The latest error message I'm getting is "DownloadManager Error: 0 : Error loading downloaded product file: 'System.Xml.XmlException: The 'META' start tag on line 8 does not match the end tag of 'HEAD'. Line 10, position 3."

I've tried deleting the SQL Server files that did load on my C drive, plus I've tried uninstalling the SQL Server Setup Support Files.  Nothing is working. Why is this so difficult?

Hi je7jack;  Sorry to hear you are having problems installing SQL Express.  The issue you're seeing is caused because the servers are not returing the correct file.  I'm working with our development team to figure out a fix.  In the meantime though, please just try launching Web PI again (you can find it under start > all programs > web platform installer).  In Web PI if you go to the Web Platform tab and choose database you can install SQL Express SP1.

Let me know if you run into further issues.

    Thanks,

    Crystal
