Can any body help me on how to check the version of the Crystal Reports installed on a vista machine. Just as we can check the files in the Veiw assembly cache in the .net configurations, on the Windows 2003 Server.

I think you can simply open %windir%\assembly folder.
As CR related assemblies are registered into GAC already, you can check their version directly.

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. The version should be described there, but checking the version of assemblies in the GAC is also a good idea because they can be dropped there manually outseide the control of any program's setup routine - as I have found
out to my cost previously.
