  Error installing msdeploy RC1 Reply Contact I am trying to install RC1 of the msdeploy tool on our new Server 08 machines and receive this error every time I attempt to install it.  Company policy has anything dealing with windows updates disabled, am I not going to be able to use msdeploy?   The Windows update  could not be installed because of an error: 2147943458 "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it." (Command line: "C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe /quiet /norestart "C:\Users\ADMIND~1\AppData\Local\Temp\\WMSVCHotfix{552C37F2-D04B-4732-BDBE-2205CE2C44B1}.msu"")

  Re: Error installing msdeploy RC1 Reply Contact Well, I have a workaround for my problem but I'm not sure I care for it.  I enabled the Windows Update service, started it, completed my msdeploy install and then disabled the Windows Update service.  I do know at some point in the future this will be set via policy and I won't be able to make these changes to install, hopefully there will be a fix by then....

The dependency is there right now as we are using  Windows update to install  component updated that Msdeploy depends on as part of the installation. I'll post back on this if there are any changes.
