    Classic asp forums......

Can anyone explain why "classic asp" support is hosted here?

Surely a much more logical place to host it would be forums.asp.net.

I know there are a few IIS admin that can do asp but surely not as many as programmers that could help out on asp.net.

I have always wondered this since I joined here it just seems strange......

    Hello,

I agree that seems logical to be hosted in http://forums.asp.net .

    Regards

Classic ASP is owned by the IIS product team and not the asp.net product team - so, the best place to host the classic asp forum is here where the IIS product team visits.

Thanks for the explanation however the requests that come in are dev questions mostly and mostly answered by the few members (not IIS staff) that use asp for example Tom and Jeff (who is mostly on asp.net anyway). Users will get better support overall if it was a hosted on asp.net.

Anyway it is not likely to change and the forum will be a hybrid of iis admin and programming support.

Also, the IIS team members mostly monitor "IIS7 - *" forums while most of the classic ASP questions are probably still in "IIS6 - classic asp" forum.

As a person who was involved with Classic ASP 'in the day', there are tons of resources on the web for Classic ASP.  Although ASP development questions come up, 99% of the time it's configuration or related questions.  How to do certain things are left to the web, which there are tons and tons of resources.

    Hmm ... not a very customer focused position ... : )

The customer should not care how MS is setup internally.
