Website does't start from OUT of remote desktop connection

I have dedicated server with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, IIS 6 and ASP.NET 2.0.

When I enter to the remote desktop and try to browse my website from IE 6, it completely works while it does NOT work when I enter domain name or even it's IP address in the address bar of IE7.

Please help me solve the problem.

    Thank you

If it works on the server but not off the server, the issue is most likely either a firewall setting or network routing problem.

Routing of server LAN connections or that of ISP (whete the server is connected to its internet cable)?

In addition, I CAN launch the site from FTP. I mean when I login into the FTP whith ftp.domain.com and double click on index.aspx I can see the full page with all database connections.

     Regards

Sounds like part of the firewall or routing works since you can access port 21.  Open a command prompt and type telnet X.X.X.X 80  and see if you get a black screen on a remote pc.  Replace the X.X.X.X with your public IP address.

In-addition, are you seeing anything in the IIS logs?

    c:\windows\system32\logfiles\w3svcX\ex080801.log or something similar?

    1. I ran telnet command on the remote and saw the black screen.

    2. I cannot see any important entries or errors recorded in the IIS log in the given address.

Is the issue related to ISA Server?

ISA server could have rules blocking access to your server.  When you ran telnet on the remote box, you didn't see errors?

Re: Website does't start off the remote desktop connection

No, I only see a black empty screen on the remote's command box, but I tried to write "help" in the balck screen and pressed "Enter" and saw the following messages:

    HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request

    Content-Type: text/html

    Date: Sat, 02 Aug 2008 08:41:59 GMT

    Connection: Close

    <h1>Bad Request <Invalid Verb></h1>

    Connection to host lost.

But when I try to connect to telnet at port 80 OFF the remote (for example, my home computer), I see the following error:

Connecting to x.x.x.x ... Could not open connection to the host, on port 80:

    Connect failed.

Verify your router and / or firewall are allowing port 80.
