Cannot access my IIS7 website from certain computers

    Hi,

I have an IIS7 website that is accessible from most computers.  The interesting thing is that I cannot access it from my home computer and I have heard that several others are having a similar problem.  The Windows Server 2008 server is behind a netgear FVS338 firewall and my home computer is behind a Linksys WRT54G router.  If I Linksys and plug my computer directly into my cable modem, I can access the website.  However, if the router is being used, I just get a "Waiting for www.whatever.com" message at the bottom of the browser and eventually I get a "Server reset the connection".  Another interesting thing is we have a Windows Server 2003 server behind the Netgear FVS338 that serves a webpage that I can get to fine even with the Linksys router.  So, i guess the problem is with the Windows Server 2008 IIS and the Linksys router.  I would like to fix the problem on the server-side because I'm sure many people have this kind of router and probably cannot access our site.  I tried change the MTU on the Windows Server using netsh but it didn't seem to make any difference.  Anyone got any ideas?

    Mark

Is your netgear providing NAT? IF so, did you remember to route the administration port on the netgear to your win2k8 server? bill

Re: Cannot access my IIS7 website from certain computers

Surely the way to troubleshoot this is to work out where the requests are getting to.

    a) see if any requests are being received to the IIS?

If they are then the inbound router config will be ok. Does IIS try to send out packets?

EIther way it will be useful to look at the router logs for what is rejected and why?

Logically it would be very, very unsual for this to be directly an IIS problem. IIS would have no memory of the packages and where they come from and modify it's behaviour for this.

I always look at these sort of problems as

How could I make IIS/server reject requests from a certain router?

How could I make a router reject/stop requests to a ceratin computer?

It is easier for the second instance. For teh first IIS/server could reject ceratin things based on IP address so if you are *sure* it is not the router then that is only thing I could think of checking.

Interesting solution to this one.  I had HyperV RC role installed.  I uninstalled it and now I can access the websites from anywhere.  I ideas on why this solved the problem?
