IIS7.0

Loaded IIS7.0 to windows 2003 server. After rebooting then starting IIS7.0 the following error appeared:

Failed to Connect

There was an error when trying to connect. Do you want to retype your credentials and try again?

Details:

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Web.Administration, Version=7.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

I try retyping username and password but to no avail. Please advise... Thank you in advance

IIS 7.0 is not supported on Windows Server 2003, and I'm not sure how you'd download IIS 7.0 to your machine without upgrading to Windows Server 2008. Can you clarify whether you're upgrading your server to Windows Server 2008, or what you're trying to do?

Benjamin,

Thank you for your quick response, but it seems your reply explained how futile my efforts were. I was simply trying to utilize IIS7.0 to manage my Windows 2003 Server Web Editions web sites. After a lilttle bit more reading, and from your comments, I see that it can be downloaded to my 2003 server to remotely manage Windows 2008 Server IIS web sites. If I am correct that is. Please advise.

Yes, that's correct. You need to enable remote management on the IIS 7 server, and install the remote manager on your Windows Server 2003, XP or Vista computer.
