More .NET custom modules for IIS 7

I would love to see more custom modules for IIS 7.

You have done a great job of showing what is available within the .NET Modules by providing a few great articles on custom modules - basic auth etc..

    Please do not stop there.

I would love to see the following:

    • Custom Logging Modules
    • Custom Client Certificate Modules

I would also love to know the relation ship between modules.

    • Which modules are really needed? For example there is not a lot of us in removing the logging module or the default document.
    • Also what content is the module run under? for example if I add a cusotm logging module do I have rights to determine if logging should be enabled from within the context of the module at runtime?

Absolutely.  We are planning to release more sample modules to add to the existing functionality of IIS, as well as encourage the developer community to write and post their own.

It is amazing how many possibilities are there to add value to the web server by writing a module - especially with the next gen ASP.NET integration that allows you to leverage the power of the .NET framework librariries to extend the server at the module level.

Internally, we have a list of module ideas that we have gotten from customers, and hope to start writing some of these once we get some free time.  If you have specific ideas of what you would like to see, please post them here and we'll try to make them happen.

Re: understanding the relationship of existing modules and which ones are required, have you seen this article - http://www.iis.net/default.aspx?tabid=2&subtabid=25&i=930
