IIS Manager Crash when using the Web Platform Installer

Hi, I tryed to install a DotNetNuke through the Web Platform Installer when the process suddenly stopped and I recieved an error. The log shows this:

REFURBISHED COMPUTER FROM HELL -- Joy Systems
(Says its Version is 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600)

However has not ever seemed to have SP3!!

PROBLEM: Microsoft Updates wants me to install the following:
         Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP 3 (KB955706)
         (upgrades all MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition instances and

components to Service Pack 3 (SP3)

-----The download is done however it will not install!---------

REASON: MS Internet Information Services (IIS) is not installed

PROBLEM: MS INternet Information Services 5.1/6.0 FAILED TO INSTALL!
(requires insertion of CD for Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3--
I do not have that CD-----I think they are talking about the Windows

Hi,

I'm trying to install SQL Server 2008 Express through the Web Platform installer. I need this because I want to use MS Assessment and Planning Toolkit which needs SQL Express.

The install fails with this error message:

Notes on installing WordPress

Having cleared all my IIS settings while installing DotNetNuke, I needed to re-install WordPress, or rather to make IIS work with it again. I used WPI. The install went fine, but I have a couple of notes or issues to report:

1. WPI said it would have to "install" MySQL, though MySQL was running the whole time. Maybe there needs to be a clearer way of phrasing that -- reconnect to MySQL? Update MySQL and reconfigure? Something like that.

2. In the WordPress part of the WPI install, I was asked for "Unique Key for Passwords, Unique Key for Secure Passwords, Unique Key for Authentication, Second Unique Key for Authentication". I've done a lot of WP installs by hand, so I was prepared to put in one unique key, generated at WP's secret-key API. I was surprised to need *4* of them, and even more surprised when the WP-generated keys weren't accepted due to too many unconventional characters. In the event, I took my WP-generated keys and just deleted the special characters that aren't on the top line of my keyboard.

I think the WPI needs to warn the user how many keys they're going to need, and there needs to be a link to an API that will generate one the system will accept -- preferably the WP secret-key API, since that's what we're used to using.

Once that was done, everything worked just fine. The WPI is definitely a *huge* improvement over the calisthenics needed to get WP working on IIS the first time.

Thanks, that sounds easy, this is what I've tried (I tried to make my custom xml based on the official ones but didn't succeed, itt seems that because of the missing tab info), but now I think it will work, using the samples.

WPI MySQL Connect Error

I posted this issue earlier in the wrong forum.

WPI successfully installed all components including Wordpress. However, after Internal Error 500 on "activating" a premium theme, not being a programmer/developer, I uninstalled WPI installed components and tried Wamp. Wamp was not successful, so reinstalled Wordpress application and components w/WPI. On this second installation with WPI there is a problem w/ MySQL Windows Essential 5.1.

After entering passwords/user names and clicking Continue, the following error message displays:

Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts.

Continue anyway? Yes or No

OS is 32-bit, Vista Business SP2

Only changes on computer between first successful install with WPI and this reinstallation w/occurring MySQL connect error, is install/uninstall of Wamp and Wordpress, and 25 Microsoft updates.

WebPI Install Error

Hello,
I try to install WebPI to use SilverStripe but at the end of the installation I got this message:

"We are sorry. The installation of the products has failed.
SilverStripe CMS
The installation of this product has failed: Unable to create the database 'silverstripe'. Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts. An Exception of 'System.Error' type as been raised.
MySQL Windows Essential 5.1
The installation of this product has failed: Configuration template file cannot be found"

Now I might have an idea or two about the problem but I do not know what I should do to solve it: I think it has something to do about the fact that WampServer is installed on my computer maybe that is the thing that unable it to complete the installation (along with the fact that IIS content might be disabled).
Can someone help me ?

First Installation Fails

I just installed wpilauncher for the first time. After going through the tedious task of providing user names and passwords for a platoons worth of people it informed me that the product had been previously installed. I found this a novel means of getting software is installed. This Hard Drive has only been installed for about 4 day, and this was my first installation of any of the MSDN offerings. Could you use this new technology to install Windows 7 for me.

Expression Web not available in Web Platform Installer

I have just installed a Windows Web Server 2008 R2, x64. WPI installed succesfuly, and afterwards I installed IIS, .NET, SQL and Visual Studio. All seems to work just fine.

I would also like to install Expression Web, which should be part of the package. I cannot find the installer anywhere in the WPI. Am I looking in the wrong place? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
