ok so i have installed and uninstalled may apps that use local host like zend, IIS and easyPHP. i decided to install IIS as my Choice (after trying all of them ) but when i installed it and i go localhost it says web page not found.

Hi,

I have a small project that configures IIS7 (create Application/Virtual Directory etc.) in a deploy machine.

I would like to inlude in the installation procedure the Microsoft Web Administration (Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll) assembly and deploy/install it in the folder where my project is installed.

Can I do this (do we have the right to do)?

Hi chanshuk,

try this :

Open your IIS >> right click on web site in question >> Properties >> Home Directory >> Configuration >> Add >> in front of Executable enter path = C:\windows\system32\inetsvr\ssinc.dll >> in front of Extension enter .shtm >> Ok

Repeat these steps and add extension .shtml with same executable C:\windows\system32\inetsvr\ssinc.dll

IIS6 Error 401.3 on default web site.

Hi,

I have a win2k3 server acting as a citrix server (CAE2). The server was working previously however not sure when it broke though I am sure the default web site worked a few days ago. This is a test/development/demo unit that I need to get operational again urgently.

If I try to access the default web site, or the citrix secure site I get the 401.3 error shown below. I have checked/compared all the settings permisions/NTFS settings with a working server and all seems OK. I created a new web site which works without problem. Any ideas where I can look or how I can resolve this as I have spent hours trying to get this working.

Hello,

I have been having some issues with my server since last week. Let me start from the beginning. It started when I went to boot up the server after a update install. When the computer started I got a config error while trying to load win2k server. I did as it told me, and I put in the CD and ran a repair of Win2k. This all seemed to work grand, it loaded the files and kept everything in tact DNS, MySql, Email, etc. except for IIS and my drive lettering. Now when I click on the computer name in IIS it gives me the following error.

Unable to enumerate FTP/Web Sites: Object already exists.

I reassigned the drive letters to the appropriate drives, thinking that was the problem, it wasn't. I googled the error and came up with MSKB solution here:

This solution still did not help. I have yet to try uninstalling IIS, copying all but the newest file from the \Documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\Machinekeys directory (which I will try this evening when I get home) to a backup, and reinstalling.

I have googled up and down and through this forum and that forum, all of these solutions seem to help everyone but myself. I really would not want to have to start fresh with a formatted partition, but right now, it seems that is going to be the case, if the uninstall/reinstall doesn't work.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Currently I have 3 clients whose sites are down, not to mention my own. I will post the results of my latest attempts when I get home later tonight.

Update: The reinstall seems to have worked, but now when the server starts all of the web services are stopped, and when I try to start them I get another error: "Address already in use". I think it is becuase on of the other machines in my local network is running apache. I am going to try and uninstall apache and see if that makes a difference.

IIS Session Lost In Web Server - In Dev Server Works Fine

Hi,

We have developed an application using ASP.NET 2.0 with a database in SQL Server 2005 Express. It uses a built-in login feature and sessions, and works just fine when running it in our local server (Win 2k3 SP2). We never lose session until we log out.

I moved this application to our virtual web server (also running win 2k3 SP2), with the same database, the same IIS configuration (I have read many posts about Web gardens, default app pools idle processes, session state timeout features of IIS and tried changing these itmes) and we lose session everytime the application writes to the database (it's a wiki so this happens everytime we write a new article), and we have to log in again.

I am really out of clues with this issue, as we have the exact same configuration of IIS in both servers. What could be happening when one works fine and the other doesn't?

We are using IIS 6.0

Following are the steps to install IIS -

Start >> Run >> type in appwiz.cpl >> Ok >> "Add or remove programs" window will appear >> here at the left side click on "Add/Remove Windows Components" >> a new pop up window will appear "Windows Components Wizard" >> under "Components" section select "Application Server" >> Details >> again in new window select "Internet Information Services (IIS)" >> Ok >> Next

Does IIS 7 send another ETag for the gzip-ed version of the document? In other words, does it have the same bug which Apache also has?

About a year ago, IIS 7 appears to be NOT affected. However, today's analyze shows different results - IIS.net remains fine, but Microsoft.com is not:

I'm having troubles with showing pictures and links in MOSS2007 and IIS 6

Have lots of warnings in my application log like this one below.

Can't figure out what is wrong. Can anyone give a hint?

IIS localhost not responding

I'm working in a development environment so keep in mind that normally sane things might be seriously altered unbeknownst to me, or at least that I haven't thought of yet. I was running along fine until a couple of days ago when the web project I was working on stopped responding. At first I thought it was the project I was working on but when I checked other sites I realized the localhost had completely stopped responding to any query. If I try to simply browse to //localhost IE will hang for an interminable period and then report a 404.

.Net 1.1 and 2.0 installed side by side initially

I uninstalled and reinstalled IIS to no avail. Here are a couple of the things I've tried to work this out and the results I've received any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Can I ping //localhost? Yes but it responds as "Reply from ::1: time<1ms"

Errors that occurred prior to this: Unable to gain access to IIS metabase - I granted access to the IUSR account and the local / network admin accounts.

I've manually restarted IISADMIN and W3SVC without error.

I installed and ran wfetch but received the following error regardless of where I pointed wfetch:0x2749 (A request to send or receive data was disallowed because the socket is not connected and (when sending on a datagram socket using a sendto call)

All of the information I found on the wfetch error suggested a problem with proxy settings which aren't enabled in my setup so I think wfetch is a dead end for me.

Tried reregistering .Net 2.0 with errors. Note that these errors are encountered whether or not I install and register or just install. (aka -i and -ir) The errors in the log include

Unfortunately pursuing the above error didn't get me anywhere.

I'm particularly suspicious about this as XP is limited to IIS5.1

Since it complained of WMI and other paths hadn't been of assistance I tried to tackle the WMI issue directly. I found some references to a possibly corrupted WMI repository. I browsed to the wbem directory and ran mofcomp cimwin32.mof directly and got the following error "An error occurred while opening the namespace for object 1 defined on lines 8 - 11". lines 8 - 11 define the namespace CIMV2.

At this point I'm pursuing a cause for corruption of the CIMV2 namespace but I'm WAY out of my comfort zone at this point so if anyone is more familiar with what could have caused this constellation of symptoms I'd really appreciate some help.
