ARR v2 Proxy Timeout Server vs. Server Farm

I am curious as to a difference in the default Time-out settings for Server based proxy (120 seconds) vs. Server Farm based proxy (30 seconds). I know the value can be changed, I am just curious if there is reason for this difference?

Same error 407 for me here.. the error certainly looks proxy related but neither XML proxy config worked :(

Wondering if you had tried ARR for your scenario. We have customers that are doing something similar using TomCat. The idea is the same, so I would think it works for WebLogic as well.

Launch phase problem

Hi,

I am experiencing an issue where WPI hangs, not even getting to the point where the product list is downloaded. When I run WPI I get the progress bar with 'please wait while we load the latest web platform products' message. This just sits there indefinitely (I have left it running overnight with no progress).

I am running XP Professional SP3.

I have tried the various combinations of proxy settings in the WebPlatformInstaller.exe.config file.

I have downloaded the WebProductList-beta.xml file and put it in the application's directory.

The latest windows updates have been applied and I am running WPI without any other programs running.

I am now at a loss as to what the problem is and it is driving me mad! Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks,

Hello,

It seems as though there are a lot of users on this forum are having the same issue with wpilauncher.exe if they are behind a firewall, and every thread I see on these forums just stops dead in its tracks when this information appears.

So just to be clear on what the issue is, I am on Windows Vista, on a corporate network (I have administrative right as I am in the IT department), and we are behind a Microsoft ISA firewall/proxy, with the Microsoft Firewall Client 4.0 on the PC.

Internet explorer is properly configured with the ISA server in the proxy, and I am able to browse to https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=139791 without any issue.

When I run wpilauncher.exe , I get the following error message:

If I run the installer on the same computer from another network (no proxy, just direct internet access), the installer works fine.

So, in conclusion, it seems that wpilauncher.exe completely ignores proxy settings from Internet Explorer or from the system, does not give the option to use one, and is generally unuseable when behind one.

Does anyone at Microsoft want to please correct this once and for all?

Non-MS proxy on IIS 6 server

We've got an app that is running on IIS 6. And hundreds of people that are going to be testing it. I want to run a non-MS proxy on the IIS 6 box to track what people are doing (possibly Webscarab or ratproxy). Can anyone help with this?
