synchronize files with certain extension only

I have a folder named MySite, containing number of folders and larg number of .htm and .asp files, and same folder in remore server, I want to synchrize only .asp files with correspondent files on remote server, How can it be done? in short, is it possible to exclude folders or certain extensions from synchronization?

I am using 2 networked PC on the same domain equipped by IIS 5.1 and web development tools and remote service is running on both computers.

Its couple of days I am trying to get some of the synchnorization command into work but I have failed such as folloin two commands:

msdeploy -verb:sync -source:metakey=lm/w3svc/1 -dest:metakey=lm/w3svc/1,computername=\\pnt-mahdi,username=momazia,password=Di5gui$eD
Action: Adding MSDeploy.metaKey (MSDeploy.metaKey)

Error: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

(I run the command as Administrator,username & password are Windows login user ans pass, Anonymous accsess is enabled on IIS)

I tried many syntax and configration but I can not think of any solution anymore. Please assist me with this.

Yes we can do this. But previously I was writing manifest file which was containing 2 metakey elements. One for application pool and one for web site. Application pool was setting properly for web site with that approach after migration. Also I was writing single ms deploy command to achieve this.But now I have to migrate application pool first and then I have to create web site using AppCmd and then I need to synchronize web site using ms deploy command that you have mentioned above.
With this approach I don’t have application pool set for the web site after synchronization. It’s “DefaultAppPool” and not the application pool that I have migrated.How can I set application pool that I have migrated for the Web site? Should I write AppCmd again to set application pool for the Web site?

I am using 2 PCs(on LAN) with OS:windows XP equipped by IIS 5.1 and I installed Web Deployment tools, I want to deploy ASP files from one to the other, but I dont know how to do?

Can you please help me to do that or any hint?

Hello,

How do i migrate IIS6 (Win2k3 server) to IIS7 (Win2k8 server enterprise) using the MS Deployment toolkit?

I know about all those tutorials. For instance i followed this one http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/mscomops/cc424869.aspx and i ended up with unknow factory fatal error when i tried to execute migrate command.

I guess it is my broken English so i do not understand well those "on" target server "on" your server etc. pretty confusing for someone with English as second language.

So, i was wondering if i can explain my situation and ask for some help. Thank in advance for understanding.

1. i have about 1500 websites to the current WEB server (Win2k3). ServerOne

2. i bought a new dedicated servers (both web and db Win2k8 driven).ServerTwo

3. I need to move all the 1500 websites including the SSL certificate and all the other settings to the ServerTwo.

4. I found that actually my only option is MSDEPLOY toolkit. Is this correct?

I hope this is enough .. otherwise please ask me for additonal info if needed.

I fixed this error by disable the 'script source acces' on the home directory tab.

But the following error appears at the next stap:

Exception using MSDeploy getDependencies on a websiteID

Hi everyone,

After installing .Net Framework 2.0 sp1 and MSdeploy on a IIS webserver host, i make a test using the following command line:

msdeploy -verb:getDependencies -source:metakey=lm/W3SVC/SiteId when SiteId is any Website Id found on IIS6.

I am getting the message : an item with the same key has already been added ....

with the -debug option i get further information like:
