syncing/deplying several webapplication and not the entire webserver

I have a couple of web applications on my old IIS6 server that i want to migrate to a win server 2008 IIS7 server.

But i cant figure out the command :(

I should add that im a developer (not webb) and have little experience with IIS.

the sites exists under the "default web site"

They are named sitexxx, siteyyy and sitezzz

What comand do i use to make a offline copy of them that i can use to restore them on my IIS7 machine. And what command do i use to restore them.

Can i do it in one command or in several? I dont need a fansy solution as im only going to do this once, hopefully :)

I found this o the iis site:

msdeploy.exe -verb:sync -source:metakey=lm/w3svc/1 -dest:archivedir=c:\archive > webdeployarchive6.log

Im assuming i have to change the "source:metakey=lm/w3svc/1" part to something...but i dont know to what.

it seems as though the following line would move all of the ftp info over but I would prefer confirmation before I just jump into it. Any info would be greatly appreciated....

msdeploy -verb:sync -source:metaKey=lm/msftpsvc ,computername=Remote1 -dest:lm/msftpsvc

synchronize files with certain extension only

I have a folder named MySite, containing number of folders and larg number of .htm and .asp files, and same folder in remore server, I want to synchrize only .asp files with correspondent files on remote server, How can it be done? in short, is it possible to exclude folders or certain extensions from synchronization?

Hi,

Thank you so much for all your efforts.

I tried with 1st command, it was executing successfully.

When I tried with 2^nd command it was giving same exception mentioned above.

I repaired MS Deploy x86 installation. I restarted 'Web Deployment Agent Service'.

AND NOW IT IS EXECUTING 2^ND COMMAND SUCCESSFULLY!!!!!

I tried executing command on w2k8 box. And it is now executing successfully.

I really don’t know root cause of this issue but after repairing MS Deploy installation and restarting ‘Web Deployment Agent Service’ on w2k3 box resolve the issue.

I used following ms deploy commands to change my application name and physical path for migrated application on server where IIS 7.0 is installed, but nothing is updated.

Please find the command and output of the command and kindly correct me, where I am going wrong.

HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found

The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler.

I migrated my web service from IIS 6.0 to IIS 7.0 successfully with following steps.

1. I check for dependencies for my web service. I found that web service is dependant on “MyAppPool “

I migrated application using manifest. In manifest I write following things.

</ MyApplication >

2. I use following command to migrate web service.

msdeploy -verb:migrate -source:manifest=D:\ MyApplication.xml -dest:auto,computerName=IIS7.0ServerName

I successfully migrate web service with above steps.

3. When I browse web service I get Http error 404.17 as mentioned above.

Application pool for “MyApplication” is “MyAppPool” after migration. When I change it manually to “DefaultAppPool” everything works fine. But I don’t want to change application pool.

I also tried with changing “Enable 32-Bit Applications” in advanced settings for “MyAppPool” to True. But no luck.

Please help me out, Let me know work around or please guide me if I am doing anything wrong.

How with msdeploy i can specify the new AnonymousUser and password when i migrate my website from IIS 6.0 to IIS 7.0.
My servers are not in a domain so it's not the same anonymous user.

ReplaceHandler not working, rule or command

I've been using msDeploy for a feww days and it's working fine, except the replace rule, i am not able to execute the rule correctly. I have tried command, rule in configuration file and nothing has worked. Here is my last rule.

i have also try to add command line

replace -replace:ObjectName=metaProperty,targetAttributeName=bindingInformation,match=192\.168\.99\.100,replace=192.168.0.9

nothing work, anybody know why ?

I fixed this error by disable the 'script source acces' on the home directory tab.

But the following error appears at the next stap:
