setParam and DestinationVirtualDirectory

I have a folder on a file system that contains all the necessary files for my application.

I would like to create a zip package from this folder, so that I can easily deploy my application on different servers.

Given that I need to specify a physical target path for the iis web application, how they should be made manifest.xml and parameters.xml files to allow the tool to accept the setting -setParam:type=DestinationVirtualDirectory?

And what exactly should be the command? What should I put in parameterscope?

synchronize files with certain extension only

I have a folder named MySite, containing number of folders and larg number of .htm and .asp files, and same folder in remore server, I want to synchrize only .asp files with correspondent files on remote server, How can it be done? in short, is it possible to exclude folders or certain extensions from synchronization?

Does Logparser support manifest-based provider?

I'm using the manifest-based provider to write the ETW messages. When I use logparser to load the .etl file, it throws the error "Error: Cannot find provider of event {guid}". But the provider is registered and I can use Event Viewer to see these messages. Does Logparser support manifest-based provider?

Since I'm using x64 Windows 20008, could it also because 32-bit Logparser can't find the 64-bit provider? Is there a 64-bit version of Logparser?

Hi,

Thank you so much for all your efforts.

I tried with 1st command, it was executing successfully.

When I tried with 2^nd command it was giving same exception mentioned above.

I repaired MS Deploy x86 installation. I restarted 'Web Deployment Agent Service'.

AND NOW IT IS EXECUTING 2^ND COMMAND SUCCESSFULLY!!!!!

I tried executing command on w2k8 box. And it is now executing successfully.

I really don’t know root cause of this issue but after repairing MS Deploy installation and restarting ‘Web Deployment Agent Service’ on w2k3 box resolve the issue.

HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found

The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler.

I migrated my web service from IIS 6.0 to IIS 7.0 successfully with following steps.

1. I check for dependencies for my web service. I found that web service is dependant on “MyAppPool “

I migrated application using manifest. In manifest I write following things.

</ MyApplication >

2. I use following command to migrate web service.

msdeploy -verb:migrate -source:manifest=D:\ MyApplication.xml -dest:auto,computerName=IIS7.0ServerName

I successfully migrate web service with above steps.

3. When I browse web service I get Http error 404.17 as mentioned above.

Application pool for “MyApplication” is “MyAppPool” after migration. When I change it manually to “DefaultAppPool” everything works fine. But I don’t want to change application pool.

I also tried with changing “Enable 32-Bit Applications” in advanced settings for “MyAppPool” to True. But no luck.

Please help me out, Let me know work around or please guide me if I am doing anything wrong.

Specify skipDirectives on manifest.xml, or on a separate file

I'm trying to set up a deployment pipeline with msdeploy and so far I've hit a small "problem".

From the build environment to the production one there are several files which should not be copied, and I've found that I can do that by skip directives.

My main bother is that the directives can either be configured on a file that exists on the same directory as the msdeploy executable (not so good for build servers where different projects and configurations may wish to skip diferent files), or on the command line (which for more than 2 or 3 directives becomes a bit unwieldy).

I'd expect to be able to associate skip directives with a provider, but from what I managed to gather that is not possible. My expected syntax would be:

Or perhaps being able to setup a .configfile local to the current working directory (and as such would be local to a given project).

Are there any workarounds for this problem?
