Visual Web Developer 2008 Express won't install - HELP

I need to install Visual Web Developer 2008 Express for a class and it keeps failing. The log shows:

WordPress install fails to download MySQL

Using Web Platform Installer 2.0, trying to install WordPress application. The installation fails to download the MySQL Windows Essential 5.1. The log file shows :

DownloadManager Error: 0 : Error while downloading file 'http://mysql.llarian.net/Downloads/MySQL-5.1/mysql-essential-5.1.39-win32.msi'. Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: Url 'http://mysql.llarian.net/Downloads/MySQL-5.1/mysql-essential-5.1.39-win32.msi' returned HTTP status code: 404

Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you

PHP prompts to download file

I used WPI to install PHP and it didn't go smooth. I've read and implemented everything written in this forum and the blogs about PHP installation. Unfortunately, something still remains amiss.

When I run anypage.php in any browser, I am prompted to download the file.

I've seen this behaviour before and discovered that poorly written code was the culprit, but this page:

echo 'This is my first PHP program';
?>

Is written perfect, so that's not the problem. Anybody experience this issue?

I've been working on getting this pHp installation working for four days now. Arrgh!!!!

Comparing WDT vs MSI vs SCCM

Hi all,

I would like to get your comments about how to set Web Deployment Tool in the right place, compared to using MSI files created with Visual Studio (Web Setup Projects, in concret) to deploy sites/ASPX apps, or using a robust product such as SCCM to deploy software.

My objective is to know what's the right tool to use for each particular scenario.

Man this poor guy I feel for him ... Ok now to get an answer I will rephase it to what I thought he ment and an issue I'm having..

I have automation software that sets up new sites automatically based on where iis is installed not just where the default/ WWWRoot is so I want to know if there is a true meta editor out there like metaedit 2.2 was that will allow me to SEARCH (something meta explorer will not do) The meta Database and replace the C:/inetpub location with e:/inetpub so that the SMTP root, FTP root and WWW root can all be moved to Drive E.. It use to be real easy in IIS 5 with metaedit. just copy the folder permissions and all then edit the meta...

I have looked for a way to modify this till I'm blue in the face and doing an unattended install is not an option as Microsoft limits the usage of their keys I am not willing to burn one on a reinstall. I have looked at directly editing the metabase.xml but it does not seem to have any paths in their either to change from c to e drive... Any help would be appreciated....

And please don't ask why I can't do it your way and just manually edit the website home directory as I think I pretty well covered the fact that I can't...So for the sake of not having an argument lets assume I'm right.. if you have a solution that would be great.. Thanks in advance.

I tried to install IIS to MS Windows XP Pro SP3, but it was unsuccessful. After beginning of installation (through "Add or Remove Programs" in "Control Panel") application demand some dlls (for example: staxmem.dll) in the directory "c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386". But application wrote that "cannot copy the file".

How to install IIS?

I have the same problem, but I will ask a question to,

I have the same problem with Windows 7 Professional RTM 64bit, but i don't have the problem with Windows 7 Ultimate build 7000/7100 RC 64bit Version.

Also there are some products missing like PHP, Drupal and a lot more.

Are there any differents with windows 7 products that will not allow us to see these tabs and the missing products?
