Our company set up a aplication which uses IIS 6.0.The Exact scenario is like this :-

AppServer is having IIS Installed. The Virtual directory on the application server is pointing to resources which is kept on Cluster Drive on Remote Network Computer.

Now my question is, Is it really needed to do this? Because I can see there is no performance improvement and there is lot of complications in this configuration.

Microsoft recommend not to put IIS resources on share drives.

Please tell me what may be the issues with this.

Need to add additional IP address and port to IIS Virtual Server using VBScript

<cs:applicationKey>configuration__scripting--1</cs:applicationKey>

I'm trying to write a VBScript that will add an additional IP address and Port number to an existing IIS Virtual Server. This far, I have not been able to find any code that allows me to edit any of the Properties. All I see only allows me to create a new Virtual Server. Does anybody have any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Newbie Q - Masking IP service address from end users

<cs:applicationKey>configuration__scripting--1</cs:applicationKey>

Hi all,

I am a newbie to IIS and the forum so pls be gentle.

We have a situation where end users have been accessing one of our services (the Sakai CLE LMS/CMS) by directly entering the IP address. Unfortunately this has allowed users to create content that is inaccessible to off-site external users as the IP is concealed through NAT.

We have fixed this content problem but now need to find a way to stop on-site users accessing the service via IP.

I hope someone may have a suggestion as to how to configure or write a script to have IIS redirect users to the published URL for the services whenever they enter the IP address.

Advice appreciated...

Owen
