Unabel to Install WebPlatform Installer 2.0

I've downloaded the installation file for "Web Platform Installer 2.0" but it says " cannont download the latest product list form http://go.microsoft.com/......... , check your Internet Connection" but i'm Internet connection is perfectly fine. I've tried this several times but it doesn't work. Somebody who knows how to solve this problem Please Help Me!

IIS monitoring downloads ?

Hello,

I am currently looking for the best way to monitor ongoing transfers of large files on our IIS servers (6 and 7).
We have a dedicated page which uses transmitfile() to send out the files (large MP3/MP4s and images) allowing us to prompt the user to save the file and log the request.

We would like to monitor the transfers in order to know how many sessions on the server are currently downloading, and what, based on the CURRENT real time status of the server (not log analysis).

I've seen a number of articles describing, using IIS request tracing, but have not been able to get the logman functions to work, and really want to be able to incorporate this data into a dashboard type view within an ASP.net application.

Any suggestions on parsing the current transmitfile status of all my sessions ? I had though about logging before start, but don't seem to be able to find a way to pick up the end of the transmit file on completion, do can't use that approach.

Any suggestions, whether code base or suggetions for third party tools would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any way , I can set connection Limitaion or bandwith control per IP Address connected to my websites?

First Installation Fails

I just installed wpilauncher for the first time. After going through the tedious task of providing user names and passwords for a platoons worth of people it informed me that the product had been previously installed. I found this a novel means of getting software is installed. This Hard Drive has only been installed for about 4 day, and this was my first installation of any of the MSDN offerings. Could you use this new technology to install Windows 7 for me.

Hi Richard Thanks for your help and sorry for the delay in replying to your post - been very busy doing building work on the roof of our extension and for some reason your reply notification didn't come through an email. 2nd question first - no I am not using a proxy. 1st question - yes I can download using the link. I noticed a reply to a similar post that somebody else made at http://forums.iis.net/t/1160467.aspx. The reply pointed them to a blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/sqlexpress/archive/2009/06/15/installing-sql-server-2008-guidance.aspx. I was thinking about doing the custom installation of Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Express with Advanced Services (X64), but I was wondering about SP1 - it doesn't seem to be mentioned, so I presume I would have to download SP1 separately. We have an application for which UI is built on Flex, and its consuming webservieces built on Dotnet hosted on IIS. we are trying to upload files which are around 100/200 megs , this works like a charm on LAN , if we try to do the same with web service hosted on public ip machines , then this would fail very often(obviously bcoz of lesser bandwidth ) . we have tried increasing executionTimeout(up to 10 minutes) maxRequestLength (up to 200 megs) , this didn't help . so we were thinking what would be the best way to approach this problem , and also what are the best practices which are used in this space.

Hi,

I am experiencing an issue where WPI hangs, not even getting to the point where the product list is downloaded. When I run WPI I get the progress bar with 'please wait while we load the latest web platform products' message. This just sits there indefinitely (I have left it running overnight with no progress).

I am running XP Professional SP3.

I have tried the various combinations of proxy settings in the WebPlatformInstaller.exe.config file.

I have downloaded the WebProductList-beta.xml file and put it in the application's directory.

The latest windows updates have been applied and I am running WPI without any other programs running.

I am now at a loss as to what the problem is and it is driving me mad! Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks,
