Installing IIS

Hello,

We're trying to create an installation file (msi but we're willing to move to a different deployment package if necessary), that can install IIS as part of the deployment. Is this possible? I know that IIS is built into the OS at a low level but can be be deployed along with the web application installer?

I run a web application named smallbusiness_cs on my IIS with the verion 5.1 and encountered the error page reporting that

Server Error in '/smallbusiness_cs' Application.

Failed to access IIS metabase.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Web.Hosting.HostingEnvironmentException: Failed to access IIS metabase.

I have repaired the Framework2.0 and run aspnet_regiis -i and aspnet_regiis -ga .But it does not work.could you give me some instruction?

IIS 6 Compatibility Install Problems (and not the same as the other post)

I am getting this error in my iis7.log when I try to install the IIS 6.0 metabase compatibility

It looks very similar to the other post in this forum, but I have tried to enable access for the SYSTEM account and Administrators Group to the files that are located at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys and I keep receiving the error. I even verified that none of the permissions are inherited.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling IIS, I even used the windows system restore to roll my machine back. Nothing works, I still get this error. The only thing that I did differently was that I accidentally tried to install the metabase support before any part of IIS was installed. I had done a full format and had forgotten that I didn't have IIS installed yet and so I went to install the metabase support and got this error. I figured this was why, but then I installed IIS successfully and the error doesn't go away.

Hey~

As Tom mentions, there were problems with machines as they upgraded from Beta 2 of ASP.NET 2.0 to RTM had problems. I believe that we are currently working on a Knowledge Base article to discuss some of the known issues, though I can't promise anything. There is another issue if you possibly are running a 64-bit version of the OS & ASP.NET 2.0 - this doesn't work (known issue.)
