setParam and DestinationVirtualDirectory

I have a folder on a file system that contains all the necessary files for my application.

I would like to create a zip package from this folder, so that I can easily deploy my application on different servers.

Given that I need to specify a physical target path for the iis web application, how they should be made manifest.xml and parameters.xml files to allow the tool to accept the setting -setParam:type=DestinationVirtualDirectory?

And what exactly should be the command? What should I put in parameterscope?

synchronize files with certain extension only

I have a folder named MySite, containing number of folders and larg number of .htm and .asp files, and same folder in remore server, I want to synchrize only .asp files with correspondent files on remote server, How can it be done? in short, is it possible to exclude folders or certain extensions from synchronization?

Thanks for the reply. the problem in the other form did not pass the 'AnonymousUserPass'.

My problem is that the migration to arrchive directory stucks on: DirBrowseFlags

first line: Action: Adding archiveDir (archiveDir)

........

A strange thing is that not al my sites give this error during migration.

Hi all,

When I run the following command:

msdeploy -verb:migrate -source:metakey=lm/w3svc/145273373 -dest:archivedir=d:\w3svc\12 -failureLevel:Never

I get the error Fatal: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. What does it mean.....

Also running the command include: -whatif -verboseLevel:Informational >msdeploy.log

I cannot find the explanation of the error. Someone Knows a solution?

Sync the metabase and site content

I must be missing something. When I run the following code from the "Archiving and Restoring" walkthrough the only thing that is synced is the metabase.

msdeploy.exe -verb:sync -source:metakey=LM/W3SVC/1031013737/ -dest:archivedir=F:\IISArchive\MySIte > F:\IISArchive\MySite.log

Shouldn't it be archiving the content as well or do you have to run it multiple times like so:

msdeploy.exe -verb:sync -source:metakey=LM/W3SVC/1031013737/ -dest:archivedir=F:\IISArchive\MySIteMetabase > F:\IISArchive\MySite.log

msdeploy.exe -verb:sync -source:dirPath="F:\Clients\Web\MySite" -dest:archivedir=F:\IISArchive\MySIteContent > F:\IISArchive\MySite.log

etc.

Intuitively, this doesn't seem right to me, which is why I think I must be missing something.

Any direction would would be much appreciated.
