WebPI Install Error

Hello,
I try to install WebPI to use SilverStripe but at the end of the installation I got this message:

"We are sorry. The installation of the products has failed.
SilverStripe CMS
The installation of this product has failed: Unable to create the database 'silverstripe'. Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts. An Exception of 'System.Error' type as been raised.
MySQL Windows Essential 5.1
The installation of this product has failed: Configuration template file cannot be found"

Now I might have an idea or two about the problem but I do not know what I should do to solve it: I think it has something to do about the fact that WampServer is installed on my computer maybe that is the thing that unable it to complete the installation (along with the fact that IIS content might be disabled).
Can someone help me ?

First Installation Fails

I just installed wpilauncher for the first time. After going through the tedious task of providing user names and passwords for a platoons worth of people it informed me that the product had been previously installed. I found this a novel means of getting software is installed. This Hard Drive has only been installed for about 4 day, and this was my first installation of any of the MSDN offerings. Could you use this new technology to install Windows 7 for me.

WebPI keeps showing already uninstalled components

I completely uninstalled SQL Server Express 2008 SP1, Visual Web Developer 2008 Express SP1, and IIS using the Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs and then rebooted my computer.

I have installed these programs uisng WPI and now my intention is to reinstall these programs from scratch. So, when I tried to use WPI again. It is still showing that these components are already installed (check box grayed out). There seems to be no way for me to be able to reinstall these components.

I tried to clean the WebPI cache using the information from this web page, but that didnt' work.

Hope somebody can help me because I'd like to use Visual Web Developer and SQL Server Express again! Is there a workaround to installing these programs without uisng WebPI?

webpi distro of php 5.2.10 missing some important dlls

I recently used the webpi to install php 5.2.10 on my vista machine. Since then, I've tried to install phpmyadmin and drupal's v7 beta, and have discovered some important dlls are missing from the distribution provided in the webpi. To use phpmyadmin one needs mcrypt, and to install drupal7 one needs the pdo extensions (pdo and pdo_mysql).

Why is the version of php distributed in the installer so stripped down? If I go to the php.net download center I can get all the dlls in a nice install package.

Multiple install problems

Working on an XP pro box w/ sp3
Web platform installer 2.0 RC will get to "Please wait while we load the latest web platform products." and stay there.

I have uninstalled the program, then have tried to reinstall it.

Using the latest version of the installer, the only way I could get the install to work was by using "msiexec /i filename.msi"

So my current state is that this platform installer is still not working.

Here is what we discovered. We followed your three step instructions (2 messages below), deleted the entire registry key . . .

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager Name: PendingFileRenameOperations Type:

REG_MULTI_SZ Data: \??\C:\<< PATH TO ANY FILE HERE>>

AND IMMEDIATELY installed SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services without restarting the server and we did not close the registry window (closing and then reopening the registry window will cause the erroneous entry to be re-entered!)

SUCCESSFUL !

We have the same issue of continuous reboots while installing SQL Server Express 2008. We are having a problem loading MSI 4.5 which we were told is a pre-requisite for the SQL Server Express 2008.

Here is a screenshot of the installation failure. We have installed Powershell 1.0 and .Net Framework 3.5 SP1. It does not allow us to install the MSI 4.5 [error message = "updates do not apply to your system"]

We are trying to load the SQL Server Express 2008 on Windows Server 2008 standard SP2.

Please help us. Thanks.

Error installing URLRewrite 1.1 on W2008 Server

Hi,

I've been trying to install URLRewrite extension on our W2008 server but I can't.

The first step was installing Web Platform 2.0, selecting URLRewrite 1.1 and I get this error message: "Downloaded file failed signature verification and may have been tampered with". (I've tried with WebPI 1.1 version with the same error result.)
