I got the following errors at the end of the install. What should I try next?

The following did not Install OK

Visual Web Developer Express 2008 SP1
Silverlight tools 3 for Visial Studio
.Net RIAServices Preview
Silverlight tool kit October 2009

But the Log file says Visual Web Developer express installed ok???

From the log

This were the other apps failed to install in the log

I'm getting the same error message. I used Web Platform Installer to install WordPress, along with MySQL and PHP. I've tried this on 2 PC's running Windows7 both failed though for different reasons.

So much for WPI making life easier!

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate with no service packs. I am successfuly connected to the internet and I am wanting to try and run a small LAN server here at my house.

I would like to be able to use not only ASP.net but also PHP with my small home sites so I have turned to WPI for a great and easy install of PHP on IIS 7.0 for me.

Now that I have it installed I started it up and there is NO Web Applications tab at all; showing up on the GUI. I am running it on a 1gb RAM , with a 40gb hd on it. I don't know if that helps you but I still can not figure out this problem? Do you think if i update my computer to SP1 that this will fix this problem?

I don't really want to update because of my slow internet conection but I will if you all think it would help me any. Thank You in Advance:)

First Installation Fails

I just installed wpilauncher for the first time. After going through the tedious task of providing user names and passwords for a platoons worth of people it informed me that the product had been previously installed. I found this a novel means of getting software is installed. This Hard Drive has only been installed for about 4 day, and this was my first installation of any of the MSDN offerings. Could you use this new technology to install Windows 7 for me.

Expression Web not available in Web Platform Installer

I have just installed a Windows Web Server 2008 R2, x64. WPI installed succesfuly, and afterwards I installed IIS, .NET, SQL and Visual Studio. All seems to work just fine.

I would also like to install Expression Web, which should be part of the package. I cannot find the installer anywhere in the WPI. Am I looking in the wrong place? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Multiple install problems

Working on an XP pro box w/ sp3
Web platform installer 2.0 RC will get to "Please wait while we load the latest web platform products." and stay there.

I have uninstalled the program, then have tried to reinstall it.

Using the latest version of the installer, the only way I could get the install to work was by using "msiexec /i filename.msi"

So my current state is that this platform installer is still not working.

O K A Y ! !

INSTALLATION SUCCESSFUL ! MANY THANKS TO RICHMA ! !

Here is what we discovered. We followed your three step instructions (2 messages below), deleted the entire registry key . . .

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager Name: PendingFileRenameOperations Type:

REG_MULTI_SZ Data: \??\C:\<< PATH TO ANY FILE HERE>>

AND IMMEDIATELY installed SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services without restarting the server and we did not close the registry window (closing and then reopening the registry window will cause the erroneous entry to be re-entered!)

SUCCESSFUL !

Thank you for your response. We are fresh and new to Windows Server 2008. Could we have missed enabling one of the services required to install SQL Server Express 2008 or any other installations?

We have tried to download and run SQL several times with pre-reqs installed. The only pre-req that does not install is MSI 4.5 as it states that it is not required for our system, as our version is 4.6.

I responsse to your resolution suggestion: We do not have Logitech ( Process Monitor Service) and HP (HP WMI Interface Service) under our server services. So what do we do next?

Any help is appreciated.

We have the same issue of continuous reboots while installing SQL Server Express 2008. We are having a problem loading MSI 4.5 which we were told is a pre-requisite for the SQL Server Express 2008.

Here is a screenshot of the installation failure. We have installed Powershell 1.0 and .Net Framework 3.5 SP1. It does not allow us to install the MSI 4.5 [error message = "updates do not apply to your system"]

We are trying to load the SQL Server Express 2008 on Windows Server 2008 standard SP2.

Please help us. Thanks.
