PHP prompts to download file

I used WPI to install PHP and it didn't go smooth. I've read and implemented everything written in this forum and the blogs about PHP installation. Unfortunately, something still remains amiss.

When I run anypage.php in any browser, I am prompted to download the file.

I've seen this behaviour before and discovered that poorly written code was the culprit, but this page:

Is written perfect, so that's not the problem. Anybody experience this issue?

I've been working on getting this pHp installation working for four days now. Arrgh!!!!

I have been crawling all over this problem for a week now. Followed all of the instructions found on the net, both Programs and Features and through the cmd prompt, elevated permissions, run the Windows Update System Readiness Tool (KB947821), yada, yada, yada. Ad nauseum. Based on search engine hits, there seem to be more than a few people having this problem without reaching resolution, esp w/ Vista 64. My environment is Vista 64 Ultimate, AMD dual-core chip, 4gb RAM (HP Pavilion DV7 notebook).

I REALLY, REALLY need this to work so I can perform ASP.NET development on this machine.

The install continues to fail time after time after time after time and it really doesn't give any hints as to why or any breadcrumbs (like "IIS7.log"? Not there. Nowhere to be found.). The ONLY thing I have been able to dig up after running the 'start /w pkgmgr ....' install method covered elsewhere, it leaves behind 57mb of cbs.log entries. Digging through that, searching for "error", I see a lot of references to ERROR_FILE_NOT FOUND that appear to be non-fatal. Then, I see the following dump of arcane blather, which looks like a smoking gun. But I'm incompetent to interpret the entries. It looks like everything after that is toasted, though. This is occurring in the first "start /w pkgmgr ..." command (elevated to Administrator) detailed in the cmd-line IIS install.

Unable to access my website via IP address

Howdy. I am using Vista Home Premium on a 64 bit machine and IIs7. I have a website port 80 that displays as intended using localhost. When I try to access this website from the outside using my IP address I get the 'Internet Cannot Display the Website' error. I have opened a port through my 2-wire router to the machine, shut off windows firewall and have tried it with my Nortons firewall disabled, but to no avail. I have tried to set up error logs but the logs are not catching the error.

Any Ideas

I am a newbie installing IIS7 on Vista home premium (norwegian).
IIS is enabled by adding the components in the "add/remove windows components"

When trying to start the "Default Web Site" with the IIS manager I get an error message

Internet Information Services-behandling (IIS)
Ingen tilgang. (Unntak fra HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

In english it should be something like
No access. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

I have read a lot about setting up access permissions, but that is for problems accessing files required when processing HTTP requests.

I hope there is some directory with wrong permissions, but I have no clue where to start digging.

I have added a user IISUSR and assigned it as the specific anonymous user.
In Vista home premium there is not allowed to add users to groups, so I can not add IISUSR to the IIS_IUSRS group. Tried to add the IISUSR to the same directories as the group, but there may be directories I have missed...

I have not looked at events since I dont know how to do that...

This problem seems to get more and more complicated. It started because I wanted to beable to view my PHP files on my browser. I installed the PHP and enabled fastCGI and all that other stuff but I still can't do it.

Everytime I go to local host I get error 500.19

This makes me think that there is something wrong with my default site. I have only one wwwroot file and that is the config file. I have used Xampp in the past to view my php files could this have done something.

Installing IIS 7 on Windows Vista 64bit

Hi, I ran through the normal default installation procedure to set up IIS 7, yet it isn't working yet. The normal procedure is laid out well here: http://learn.iis.net/themes/iis/pages/page.aspx/28/installing-iis-70-on-windows-vista/ I did the above (on a new Vista 64-bit), but I don't get the welcome screen. I went to the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager in the Control Panel and it appears to show that the web server is up and running. But in fact it isn't. When I go to http://localhost, I get a message: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." When I type in the localhost name I thought it would be, I get a message: "the address is not valid" and the URL changes to "http:///". In the IIS Manager, I clicked the link under "Browse Web Site", and still the same problem. Any clues?

IIS7 FTP setup

I want to setup a web server where about 100 people will have websites setup as www.compnay.com/<username>. People also need to have ftp access to their particular folder only to upload web documents.

Here is how I set it up but wanted to know if there are any issues with this or if there is a better way to do this.

Setup a website called www.company.com mapped to c:\wwwroot. Instead of setting up a seperate ftp site i added ftp publishing to this site from the Actions pane on the website. Authentication - Basic and Authorization added Domain Users - Read Write and FTP isolation - user name directory (disable global VDs).

If someone has their username folder then they are able to ftp and if they dont then they get an error message which is fine. Everything seems to be ok to me but since this is the first time I am setting it up wanted to see if anyone else can see any problems with this?

Also in IIS Manager under Sites the www.compnay.com web site has a question mark icon on the globe and I dont know why? Thanks.

Installing BITS Server Extensions with IIS7.0 on Vista?

I can't seem to find the BITS Server Extensions for IIS7.0 on Vista Ultimate using the Turn Windows Features On/Off in the Control Panel.

Is there a separate download for Vista to enable BITS on IIS7.0? Or am I just not looking in the correct location.

Is this a 32bit or 64bit OS?

Can you run the msi using the following command:

msiexec /I rewrite_x86_TP1.msi /lv C:\rewritemsi.log

And then send me the produced log file.

Could you check if rewrite module provider is registered in administration.config file located in %WINDIR%\system32\inetsrv\config?

The reasons why the UI does not appear may be:

The module provider is not registered in administration.config in moduleproviders section.
CurrentBinding protocols is different from http or https.
The UI assemblies are not in the GAC.
