Sql server express web install fail -2147024893

Hi,

I am trying to install SQL server express via the web installer which fails with the code -2147024893.

This is my second attempt at an install. prior to this install I removed all the previous components (every thing beginning with Sql Server) via programs and features applet.

I am running Win 7 ultimate with Vs 2008 installed.

Issue with installation of Service Packs

Hi, on this site claimed that WPI 2.0 will install the latest version of SQL Server 2008 Express with Service Pack 1. But after end of the installation I've checked versions of SQL Server on Microsoft Update Site and received result that no Service Pack 1 installed. So, can you check, why WPI 2.0 RTM doesn't install version with Service Pack and we need to download and install them separately? Thanks. Windows XP Pro SP3 + all updates.

IIS7 SQL Server Connection Pooling Timeout

I am looking for a little guidance regarding IIS7 SQL Server connection pooling timeout. I have two issues.

As we have migrated our app ASP.NET app to IIS7, I am wondering what a good general value would be for the timeout would be. In IIS6 we would extend the connection timeout to several minutes so that under normal load there would always be a SQL connection available.

Second I am having a mysterious problem setting the connection pool timeout through the ODBC Administrator console. No matter what value I enter, when I re-open the form the value has changed back to the default. This must be something simple, but I am just not seeing it.

First Installation Fails

I just installed wpilauncher for the first time. After going through the tedious task of providing user names and passwords for a platoons worth of people it informed me that the product had been previously installed. I found this a novel means of getting software is installed. This Hard Drive has only been installed for about 4 day, and this was my first installation of any of the MSDN offerings. Could you use this new technology to install Windows 7 for me.

Interop Assembly issue (Login failed for user '(null)')

Hi guys,

I have a ASP.NET Web service written in C#. It uses integrated authentication. The impersonation is done in web.config:

The access to the DB is done from Interop Assembly. Original component is written in VB and registered as COM+ application.

The error is:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: {[-2147467259][Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server][Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.]}

IIS is hosted on w2k server. Sql server is hosted on another w2k server. Sql server supports both windows and sql authentication. Both computers are in the same domain. Computer with SQL server is a domain controller.

I created domain user account and granted it access to the database on sql server. Also, I setup web application to use this account for anonymous access.

The connection to sql server is made using windows authentication.

For testing purposes I created:
1. ASP page which connects to database using original COM+ Application. It works fine.
2. ASPX page which tests connection directly to the database using the same connection string as com+ component. It also works fine.
3. Windows application written in c# which uses COM+ component. This approach also works without errors.

Can anyone tell me what could be the problem?

Hi Richard Thanks for your help and sorry for the delay in replying to your post - been very busy doing building work on the roof of our extension and for some reason your reply notification didn't come through an email. 2nd question first - no I am not using a proxy. 1st question - yes I can download using the link. I noticed a reply to a similar post that somebody else made at http://forums.iis.net/t/1160467.aspx. The reply pointed them to a blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/sqlexpress/archive/2009/06/15/installing-sql-server-2008-guidance.aspx. I was thinking about doing the custom installation of Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Express with Advanced Services (X64), but I was wondering about SP1 - it doesn't seem to be mentioned, so I presume I would have to download SP1 separately. Is this the best way to do it, or is there a better option? Again, many thanks for your help. Kind regards Ross

Resource blender instalations fails because it could not create database

I am trying to use Web Platform Installer 2.0 RC to install Resource Blender.NET so I can use the resources in an ASP.NET MVC application.

But I always come to this error that's driving me crazy! In a bad way, of course.

This product did not install successfully: The database 'resourceblender' could not be created.

I check the logs and what I see is this:

In Step 1 of 2: Enter your site information

I choose New website option... resourceblender as the application name, resourceblender2 as the web site name and C:\inetpub\wwwroot\resourceblender as the physical path.

In Step 2 of 2: Enter application information

I can only select SQL Server as the type of the database
I choose create new database (the error happens whether I choose new or use existing)
In SQL Server Administrator, I choose sql, because I remember that this was a Windows account I created to be an SQL administrator, but I might be wrong) - I am positive about the password, but not so sure if I did or did not say a big barbarity.
Do the SQL Server username and ResourceBender.NET username have to exist somewhere?

Certainly (I guess) the error occurs because of what I entered in the SQL Server Administrator field, but where do I find or set the SQL Server Administrator? Or simply because it could not reach SQL Server. Or what?

Where do I configure SQL Server to allow remote connections?

May I use SQL Server 2008 Express? I am almost 100% sure that this is the version I have installed.

Or would you recommend any other translation and localization application?

Hope your expertise can help me move faster. This is slowing me down.

Please, please help!

SQL Server Connection String

Hi,

I thought I read somewhere that msdeploy should check the connection string parameters, especially if it can connect and login to the database server at all. It does not seem to happen. This is especially critical when installing through IIS, it should check the existence of the database before proceeding to installing the site.

SQL JOIN on three tables?

Let me start by saying I know I may be posting in the wrong forum but here goes;

I have a web application for recording time, bonuses and commissions for employees. I am having a hard time joining three tables together.

Here are the tables:

employee - provides employee information including the primary key emp_id
emp_timecard - provides recorded time from employees
tc_bon_com - provides bonuses and commissions for employee

I join employee with emp_timecard by joining on emp_id I then use a where statement to select only the records that are between a certain date range. This part works fine but where I run into a problem is when I throw the commission and bonus table into the mix. I need it to join the other tables using the emp_id field but I also need to only pull records that are in the pay_end_date range of the emp_timecard.

Here is my statement, what is happening now is that it is selecting records outside the date range;

[HELP] php_sqlsrv.dll autoload failed on IIS7 + Win7RC + MSSQL 2008 EXPRESS

I got problem about IIS auto-load php_sqlsrv.dll, please help.

Environment:
Windows 7 Release Candidate
Microsoft Web Platform Installer 2.0 Beta
php.ini: added extension=php_sqlsrv.dll.

When I ran the script, I got the error message:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function sqlsrv_connect() in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\dbtest.php on line 4.
I placed dl('php_sqlsrv.dll'); at line 2 and ran the script again, "connected" message was printed, so I can sure that php_sqlsrv.dll not loaded after IIS started.

Is there anyone can help me to let php_sqlsrv.dll autoload when IIS started.
