See this:
http://www.netomatix.com/Development/IIS7_404Error.aspx

I met the same problem like you and after 2 hrs Googling and testing I found out that the problem is because when you click on the IIS7 checkboxes in Vista RC1, it is actually that you didn't select all sub-items like Asp.net all so. Hence you need to expand all of them, or you need to click again.

IIS7 on Vista RC1

<cs:applicationKey>iis7_-_general--1</cs:applicationKey>

I upgraded Vista from Beta 2 to RC1. I'm trying to enable IIS, but it simply says "An error has occurred. Not all features were successfully changed". And it reports this in the Event Log. Can anyone help?

Fault bucket 8776985, type 5

Event Name: WINDOWS_WCP_OTHER_FAILURE2

Response: None

Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:

OsVersion: 6.0.5600

File: base\wcp\sil\merged\ntu\ntsystem.cpp

Function: Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::DirectFileSystemProvider::SysCreateFile

Line: 1408

Status: c0000034

Attached files:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue\Report24b8e618\CBS.log

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue\Report24b8e618\WERCBD4.tmp.hdmp

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue\Report24b8e618\WERE54E.tmp.mdmp

These files may be available here:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\Report25d50a1c

IIS7 and VWD 2005 - any tricks?

<cs:applicationKey>iis7_-_general--1</cs:applicationKey>
Well I can't seem to get it all to work properly - however I got close once I installed the IIS6 compatibility options.
