what is difference between iis 7.5 FTP feature and http://www.iis.net/extensions/FTP

http://www.iis.net/extensions/FTP is called "FTP Publshing Service".

If I install it, do I still need to enable FTP feature?

win 20008 server wweb edition R2

iis 7.5

what is difference between FTP feature and FTP Publishing Service?

path problem of IIS 6.0

Hello guys,

I use visual studio 2008 develop my Asp.net web application and publish to the IIS 6.0. Nevertheless, there exists a PATH ERROR.

For instance, when I ran the web application of the IIS, the A.aspx should call the http://xxx/B.aspx(relative path). However, it refers to the PHYSICAL PATH of my computer such as c: \test\B.aspx. For this reason, it leads to the null reference exception. Also, it does not happen everytime but randomly.

ps: IIS 6.0 is installed in the other computer

Hi, Im new to FTP Publishing and all this stuff, i would like to know how do I go about enabling my FTP Publishing service when i go into the windows features dialogue box, as i don't even see the FTP Publishing services folder there. Is there anything i need to do? Pls advise. Thanks.

One IP with 2xIIS: OWA and Citrix

Hi,

its Horst from Berlin - my (probably totally stupid) question is about the following setup:

I have only one IP: myIP

behind that, there are two IISs, one as I knew before hosting the Citrix Metaframe Web Access and listens to https://myIP/

As I discovered today the users over there are used to using http://myIP/exchange for checking their mails via OWA, going to the second IIS - that is not exactly what I want ;-)

So here are my wishes: I'd like to keep both user experiences untouched, but I would prefer SSL for the OWA-session - so I guess a more or less simple redirect from http:// to https:// in the OWA-IIS would end up in seeing Citrix.

Is there a way to solve this one without getting a second IP, I thought of something like a "port-redirect": calling http://myIP/exchange and then telling the client to use 808x for SSL...

Please excuse my very poor English, hopefully it is not to forbidden.

I need to allow an external user access to a website running internally on our LAN. This external user has a dynamic IP so I want to password protect access to the website rather than restrict by IP address. How do I best go about setting this up (securely) in IIS?

Advice appreciated.

publising asmx web service

hi,

i created a web service ArtworkServices on my local computer and published it and accessed ..it works fine.

now, i copied web serivce folder pasted in the inetpub/wwwroot/ArtworkServices on other computer in the LAN now. This path also contains some html pages, i can access them

http://198.101.120.22/ArworkServices/index.html

but for

http://198.101.120.22/ArworkServices/Artworksrevice.asmx

shows yellow screen,

enable debugging in the web.config to view more details of this error.

what else needs to set in the IIS?

How to Simple Webpage on LAN Intranet with IIS 5.1 + Frontpage Server Extension 2002

I am using Windows XP SP2 and installed IIS with Frontpage Server Extension 2002 installed on my pc. In defualt IIS Directory "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot" I created "Index.htm" file. So Now this in my one page website and I can access it on my lan computers by typing my ip address on Internet Explorer Address bar.

It is Very Simple.

I also use frontpage 2003 to publish "Index.htm" webpage with Hit counter (Frontpage web componant) as "Frontpage Server Extension Serive" option and give address to publish "http://localhost" now it publish the page. My hit counter also work.

now i used some difficult task to do. I put Host Header Name with IIS Configuration tool i.e. www.test.com. Now I can access my webpage in client with typing address "www.test.com" inplace of my ip address.

It is very very very simple.

Now I dont want to use "http:/localhost" in my PC. But the problem is begin to start. When I go to publish the page to "www.test.com" it ask my username and password. I give it my system username "administrator" with no password. It again show the same dialog box.

it is not so simple although its very very very difficult.

Please anyone help me to publish the webpage.

IIS7 on N running ok, What roles do i need to turn on to publish?

Hi Everyone,

I have server 2008 running ok, IIS7 on running ok, the application runs ok I go to localhost/app and runs ok, everything’s ok.

Do i need to turn any Server Role to make it live (Hello to the world) like the DNS Server role? I assume a static IS will be required too right? Thanks for the help.

I’m a designer but i always bough hosting i want to start hosting my own stuff.

HTTP Error 404 when access dwt (Dynamic Web Templates) in IIS 6

Hi, I just rebuilt a friends webserver and we have searched high/low for a solution. We know what is causing our 404 error, its because IIS doens't have the mime type for .dwt defined yet. However, we are trying to find the correct association so that the form opens using the frontpage extensions and isn't simply downloaded to the client using application/octet-stream.

When we first setup the site many moons ago, we had the appropriate mime-type association, we had a crash over the weekend and our backups were corrupt. :-( We had a backup of all the website content, just missing this one final component to be back in 100% working order.

Any assistance to resolve this problem will be greatly appreciated. We have searched for hours without success here and across the web.
