PHP pages always shown as text

I am a developer who attempting to write my first web based app. I have been trying to get Vista (service pack 2), IIS 7, PHP, MySQL environment up for two days now and the imprint of the brick wall on my forehead is in danger of becoming permanent. I have followed the process as described on a number of sites to activate IIS, install PHP and MySQL and then get into the setup process. I can browse to http://localhost and see the default IIS page, so ISS seems to be running. I can run php -info in the command prompt so that seems to be there. I have installed FastCGI and done the the Handler Mapping stuff and made sure that the FastCGI handler is first in the list. I have double clicked both the php.exe and php-cgi.exe out of frustration and both initially reported an error because ntwdblib.dll was not there, so it has been copied into the PHP folder. I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled it multiple times and rebooted many many times.

No matter what I do, whenever I point my browser at a .php file in the wwwroot directory, I simply get the code as text back rather than the PHP created page.

Can someone save my sanity?

FastCGI, php & IIS on WinXP - file not found Virtual Directories issue

I have a number of sites (virtual directories) set up in IIS5 on Win XP Pro (with SP3). Until I installed FastCGI, they all worked fine - no problems. Now, as long as I don't request a .php page, they work fine, if I request a .php page, I get a HTTP 404 - file not found error.

After trying Process Monitor, I discovered that the .php pages start in the correct directory as specified in IIS, but end up in the default directory (C:/inetpub/wwwroot/<sitename>).

What needs to happen to make FastCGI behave? (If I move my site to a folder in the default directory, it all works fine, but that's not what I want to do

Any ideas?

i'm getting the common error

FastCGI Error
The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request.

Error Details:

    * The FastCGI process exited unexpectedly
    * Error Number: -2147467259 (0x80004005).
    * Error Description: Unspecified error

HTTP Error 500 - Server Error.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

I've applied the common solution in the .ini

QueueLength=999
MaxInstances=20
InstanceMaxRequests=10000
environmentVariables=PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS:10000

But it still crashes on some files.
It crashes on any script with a little more processing like one that receives POST data, verifies and saves it to the database (for example).

I'm using Win 2003 Server x64 with IIS 6.0 and the latest FastCGI x64 .

PHP Curl issue

hi, I'm new to IIS and am getting the following error report when installing zencart:

CURL problems detected: 28 => connect() timed out! more info...

i've got 1.38a of zencart installed on IIS 6 using fact CGi. I've enabled cURL by commenting it out of the php.ini and copying the dll files over to the system32 folder.
When i check it out in a php info file it shows up as successfully enabled.
I have purchased and set up a dedicated SSL on a unique static IP and everything is working fine with that.
Yet i still get the same errors when installing zencart.

My curltest.php files has the following results.

So cURL is enabled but cannot communicate with the zencart server. What solutions are there?
On the zen-cart forums i was directed towards fixing any nslookup errors and that didn't fix the cURL issue.
What else can i try?

And I tried making a email script and then tried a simple email script:
mail('me@mydomain', 'The Subject', 'The Message');

Its giving me the following server error:
500 - Internal server error.

If i try:
@mail('me@mydomain', 'The Subject', 'The Message');

The correct page is displayed but the email is still not being sent.

PHP5.INI NOT WORKING SITE ROOT FOLDER

Hello, i have windows shared hosting and when i create php5.ini on my website root directory and run my site then i got fatal error of mysql_connect.. and when i delete or rename php5.ini from my website root directory and run my site then site run perfect ....no error.... basically i want to increase my upload file size limit. php5 running under IIS7 cgi/fastcgi can anybody tell me what is wrong here ? Hello, Suddenly Mysql, curl, gd, openssl Disapperar from php extension..... i have windows hosting server . php5 running under IIS7 fast cgi . and i want to increase my upload file size so that' why i create php5.ini and i write this four line: memory_limit = 85M post_max_size = 192M file_uploads = On upload_max_filesize = 192M and save it and run my url .... and it give me mysql connect error .... mysql, curl, gd, openssl suddenly disappear , then i remove code from php5.ini that i write and then i run my url then it works fine . no error .... so can u tell me what is the problem ....... ? PHP5 on IIS7 in Windows Server '08 - multiple site issues (sic)

I ws using the excellent tutorial over at http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/246/using-fastcgi-to-host-php-applications-on-iis-70/ to get PHP5.2.9 up and running on Server '08 and IIS7.

All was working well, got my site migragated across, code was working, data coming and going out of PostgreSQL in the back end, etc, etc...

So time to move another couple of sites to the install... and here is where I started to stumble - namely, IIS always 'calls' the PHP file in the first sites 'wwwroot' directory, even from other sites 'based' in other directories!? (assuming there is a PHP file there with the same name...)

That is, if you go to a PHP page on ANY of the sites with, say, the name 'test.php' the PHP page that is displayed is the 'test.php' site on the FIRST site created in the original 'wwwroot', not the 'test.php' in the directory for that site!!??

ASP, HTM, etc files are working as you would expect, that is calling them from the right site - and so I set the handler mapping for 'PHP via Fast CGI' to have the same Path Type as 'ASP', namely 'File', as a test - no luck...

I am thinking that 'PHP via Fast CGI' is somehow erroneously defaulting to the always 'calling' the PHP files of the same name in 'wwwroot'??

Any advice or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated, 'cause I am stuck!
