I don't know if in the next version of WMS and/or Media Services for IIS the gap will be bridged. If Microsoft could announce what is planned for the next version of these services then everyone could make also his plans for the near future.

Re: Web Playlists

<cs:applicationKey>iis7_-_media-41</cs:applicationKey>

Hi Vishal. I am the administrator of an Internet only Station. The streaming is based on Windows Media Services and SSPL that are combining recorded videos and Live broadcasts. A common scenario using the WMS. But... we want to get rid of the Embedded Media Player and replace it with Silverlight and Media Element. The reason is the compatibility issues with browsers other that IE. Properties like Controls.currentAudioLanguageIndex (we are also multilingual) are only exposed if Media Player is embedded as ActiveX object that can be done without plugins only on IE. The next problem is that if we use Silverlight with our current configuration the use of MBR streaming should be dropped because it is not honored in Silverlight. The next problem is that Smooth Streaming files, that is the future, can only be streamed from IIS with Media Services but now simulated live scenario like the one needed for an Internet only station cannot be used if Web Playlists don't have wall-clock functionality... So as it seems we are stack with WMS SSPL, MBR files and many select case blocks to make use of as many browsers as we can. I would appreciate if you have any thoughts.

Unfortunately I didn't found anything that can be used instead of the simulated live functionality of server side playlists of Windows Media Services, like wallclock. Am I missing something? Is it something that will be added in the release version?

Changing the deafult path of WMROOT

<cs:applicationKey>iis7_-_media-41</cs:applicationKey>

As a rule, we prefer to store content on our server's non-system drive (E:\) but when I run the "Add Publishing Point" wizard and get to the "File Location" dialog it always defaults to the "C:\WMPub\WMRoot" folder.

Is there a way to change this to another location?

I tried the registry key Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media\Server\Setup\ContentRoot which points to c:\WMPub\WMRoot by default. I changed it to e:\WMPub\WMRoot and rebooted but when I rerun the Publishing Point wizard the "File Location" dialog still puts in c:\wmpub\wmroot by default and it's a multiple click movement to get over to another local drive/file location.

I appreciate your feedback. If it's a registry key or config file setting that'd be great. If it's hard coded then I'll understand we're stuck with it for now.
