How can I sync a specific web application within a website in IIS6 using msdeploy?

Hi,

I have been trying to sync only certain web application in a website in II6, but i cant figure out the correct command to do that. Now i think i know how to sync the entire website, but i want to only sync a specific web applications in that website.

Any help will be appreciated!

Real Life Scenario, would WebDeploy Help?

We have a live web site which has to be live 24x7.... We are currently going through a large rebuild program, and are trying to decide on the best ongoing deployment solution. We regularly have changes which require the site to "recompile" - leading to up to 10 minutes downtime during an update - this is unacceptable. So we need a deployment solution which will lead to a maximum of 1 minutes downtime. So far we think the best way to do this is: 1) set up a 2nd site on the Live IIS 2) Upload all new code to the 2nd site 3) Allow DFS to synchronise all web servers 4) Run recompile on all web servers 5) Test new code/site 6) Manually change IIS to point to the new code rather than the old one. And repeat for each deployment. I can see that webdeploy could help in points 2 & 3 (sync rather than dfs), and possibly 6 to switch over. Are there any other ways that WebDeploy could help, and/or any better/other tools. BTW all running on IIS 6.0 Thanks Argon0

Web Application not accessible after installing 3.5 SP1

Hello Everybody,

I have one problem. Previously i have MS.Net visual studio 2005 on my windows 2003 server. So it had .net Framework 2.0 version. I developed 2 asp.net web application for our company using this. it works fine from 1 year. But yesterday i just installed only .net framework 3.5 SP1 on it. After istalling it requires Restart the server, but due to work on it i restart later. But after istallation i experienced one problem. Both of appication published two times in 4 virtual directory for 2 company. one application(means both published content) accessed with no problem. it access from every pc in my company, But when i tried to access another application it runs fine 1st time but after that it didnot open. Only i feel that the prograss bar of IE blinks. but no page open. But from another pc it opened. some time i access that application on my server but not from client pc. and viceversa

After kill the w3wp.exe process it work fine 1 time. then the same problem happens. Please tell me how to solve this problem. I uninstalled .net Framework 3.5 SP1 and restarted the PC. but same problem happens.

It is very urgent.

Missing Service tab in 6.0

I'm trying to create application pools and know I need to be in worker isolation mode which can be selected in the Service tab. But I have no Service tab available, even though I'm right clicking on the "Web Site" tab/Properties (not individual sites). I'm also using XP Home. The only tabs showing are Directory Securtiy, HTTP Headers, Custom Errors, ASP.NET, ISAPI Filters, Home Directory and Documents.

Desparate for an answer as I'm trying to install DotNetNuke. Did I install IIS wrong to begin with?

Recycle App Pool Using MSDeploy

Is it possible to recycle an app pool on a remote machine using MSDeploy? If so, what is the syntax for such a command? We are using IIS 6, but syntax for IIS 7 would also be appreciated if there are differences between the two.

Migrating multiple sites with Web Deployment Tool

I am sure I am just experiencing a mental lock but am not making sense of how I move dozens of websites from one server running IIS6 to another (also IIS6) using this tool. I see the ability to create the xml file but it is just not making sense at the moment. Here is what I am trying to do with a few examples...

Migrate ftp settings:

- ftp site1

- ftp site2

- ftp site3

Migrate AppPools:

- Default App Pool

- all default application settings

- apppool2

Migrate Websites:

- website1

- website2

- website3

- website4

Default SMTP Virtual Server:

This is what my manifest file looks like

<MSDeploy.iisApp>
<iisapp path="SiteName" />

<dbfullSql path="msdeploy.config" transacted="false" />
...(more calls to providers)

Everything in the manifest file runs fine, but it doesn't look like my command is actually running. A log of the outputs gives me this at the end where my command should have been called.

Info: Adding child runcommand (MSDeploy.iisApp/runcommand).

Am I missing something here? My script that I pass to runCommand compiles and runs a custom project.

runCommand in a manifest file?

Is there a way to use the runCommand provider for MS Deploy in the manifest file? I've found that using -postsync:runcommand="some batch file call" results in the command running before some sql scripts and such defined in the Manifest.xml file using dbfullSql provider. I have not been able to find any documentation on the runCommand provider besides the command-line example, so I was wondering if runCommand is available for use in a manifest file at all. Also, the link to download the help file for the web deployment tool (http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=8100895) that is posted on http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/346/web-deployment-tool/ simply takes me to the same page.

IIS 6.0 process worker memory limit ?

Hi,

I know that in IIS 6.0 a worker process can be recycled automatically when it consume a certain limit indicated by the IIS administrator. But is there a limit of memory allocated by the system for each worker process by default?

The problem is:

We have a web service running on IIS 6.0. This web service uses an API which initiates a JVM.

We can’t put 1024 for the JVM? It work’s only with 512 Mo. Does IIS make this limitation?

there are some requirment that:

when the app pool died(inculde manual stop),how to make it runing automaticly.there also requried using script and don't use schedueld tasks,and are there any IIS monitor can call script on it's own initiative? if not, it can achieve using IIS WMI or IIS ADSI programic?
