Web site not accessible from external computers

I have a server with Windows Server 2003 Web Edition in our local network. On this server I installed a web site. I can access this web site on the server itself. It works without problems. So the installation of the site is correct.

However, if I try to access the site through any other computer in the network, it fails: "The web page cannot be displayed" ("De webpagina kan niet worden weergegeven").

The IP-address and the name in the host files of the computers that I use to connect to the site, are correct. If I use tracert sitename I get the correct answer.

Who can help me?

I am using: Toolkit : Sun Java(TM) Wireless Toolkit 2.5 for CLDC

Operating system: Windows XP, 5.1 Version, x86 architecture

Server : Windows Server 2003

Web Server: IIS 6.0

Problem: The DSN url(mob.i-waves.com) and IP address(10.37.4.2) url of the web server works fine in Internet Explorer. IP address url of the server works in application, DSN url opens but application can't access files in IIS Server.

I am working in mobile, my server is IIS. Url is working in browser say IE, but my application can't access the server file.

Connection successfully opened, but can't read files !

Multiple websites on IIS

Hi there, Is it possible for me to create 2 websites on IIS with the same domain name and same IP?

That means, for users to access my website, 1st website will be http://www.forexample.com

2nd website will be http://www.forexample.com/part2/

If its possible, how can I configure IIS?

If not, is there a way to do it?

Hi all,

Have just tried my sql server connected asp classic website on II7 for the first time and have gotten some errors.
First off I have unchecked show friendly errors in IE and have enabled ASP to send error messages to the browser.

My error I get is when I execute a basic .asp page:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot open database "mydatabasename" requested by the login. The login failed.

/index.asp, line 10 which is dbConnect.Open cstring

from this peice of code:

  cstring = "DSN=mysqldsn; Trusted Connection=yes"
  dbConnect.Open cstring

I have gone into ODBC and have setup both a user dsn and file dsn that equals mysqldsn and points to my database (I know you only need to set up one DSN but I'm not sure which)

I also notice under mywebsite home panel there is a connection string option. Do I do anything with that.

Definatley a lot more to it than XP's II6!
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Redirection in IIS

We're a small company with few servers and we're having an issue with our webserver and our exchange server (which is or Domain Controller.)

We are trying to figure out how to redirect our port 80 and 443 to another server. I'm confused on this whole issue and I think it's a networking question but others think it's a IIS issue. So I'll start here.

Server A

Small Business Server that is our Domain Controller and Exchange Server

Server B

Our web server that our router is forwarding port 80 and 443 to.

What happens it someone types in companyname.com/exchange and it hits our web server and we have it forward over to our exchange server which is hosting OWA. This works fine inside but when you are on the outside you can't go back out. So I guess we need to find out how to get our exchange server to redirect back to our web server so it goes back out again. I think this is setup wrong but I don't know how to fix it.

Any ideas? Hopefully I didn't confuse anyone.

Can not edit or save files in the inetpub folder

In IIS on my windows vista ultimate pc why can I not change files in the inetpub?

I am logged in as administrator, and that is the only account on the pc, but when I try to save or edit a file in the inetpub folder, I get an error message that I must ask the administrator. I have file and folder sharing turned on.

Monitoring IIS

I am looking for some code in .Net version 2.0 and C# which can be used to monitor the things like

1. Getting the list of all websites on a remote WebServer.

2. Getting the memory usage or utilisation from each of the above websites.

3. Directory structure from each of the above websites.

I tried to use System.Diagnostics namespace to get the above information but couldn't find anything useful in that. Can you please suggest me some directions to achieve the above result?

Query related to IIS Components

Hi Everybody,

I have the following queries in IIS6.0. Pls help me in this.

1. I need to know what are all the various components/Services installed in IIS6.0, through Settings files like MetaBase.xml, etc or Registry entries. Not from Control Panel or IIS Manager.

2. How do I know what are all the services that are currently enabled by IIS6.0 (from Metabase entries or from registry entries)?

3. How do I know the version details of the installed conponents /services of IIS6.0 server currently?

4. How do I know who are all having the permission (like read, write, execute) of settings files like Metabse.xml and also permissions of various services like ftp, web, smtp, etc..

5. What are all the Security related settings files and their locations of IIS6.0?

OWA - Website

Hello,

I have created a website called clients and owa virtual directory for outlook web access. Default website is assigned original server IP address while the clients website has a virtual IP assigned from the Network card. Default Website – 172.28.45.9Clients Website – 172.28.45.21

Both website are accessible and I get owa login prompt, but whenever I stopped the default website I cannot gain access to clients website, instead I get a page error message. I also noticed in clients website I cannot assign port 443 under “multiple SSL identities for this website” in Advance setting. The option is grayed set to default website and would not let me change/add port. Every time I assign port 443 to second website it automatically gets disable and I when try to start I see this message:

"IIS was unable to start the site. Another site may already be using the port you configured for this site. Please select an unused port for this site."

Any idea what would be cause for this?
