Unable to go to my homepage...

Hi guys..

I am new to .NET and I recently started learning it for my college project. I have Windows XP professional edition installed on my system. In order to work on my project I installed first IIS and then Visual studio 2008 in my system, though i dn't know what is IIS...

Now, I recently came to know about InetPub directory and all d stuff...and when I tried to check if my IIS is working or not by typing "http://localhost/", I am being asked for username and password. I tried each and evry username on my system and evn created a new user for this purpose, but of no use. Then I tried giving all the permission for the rrot directory InetPub,which is also of no use.

and yesterday it was showing another error "cannot display the requested page" and the error it is showing is "error in the line 40- GetObject method or something"

Now, how the hell it is showing this error when i dn't even opend the root directory????

nd I tried microsoft's trubleshooting document...nd it went over my head....

Please please help me.....my idiot faculty is eating my brains...

I Canot install IIS from Add/Remove Windows components. My original Windows CD has gone and i'm trying to install from other CD. But it always says Error Copying. Can i download it? Please help me.

Vista Home Premium OK or no?

If I have to upgrade to Vista then the next question is what version will suffice? Will Vista Home Premium take care of all my need with IIS 7 or should I get Vista Business?

If I can save the bucks with Vista Home then I'll do so but if it's better to go with Vista Business then fine.

IIS newbie questions

I don't have IIS. I'm a self taught Visual Basic.NET 2003 now Visual Basic 2008 programmer. I have an application I'm ready to put out there. I read an article on ClickOnce that suggests you have to have IIS to create an application that uses ClickOnce. Is that correct?

I have Windows XP now. I don't see that you can download IIS 6 or can you? For IIS 7 do you have to have Vista?

Someone who uses ClickOnce wouldn't have to have IIS would they?

And those are my newbie questions.

hello, I am an iis newbie, I mean a real newbie. I have a project that I want to work on. I want to create a website on my pc for my personal use. The objective is to learn web building, html, css and whatever else.

The target is to have a site that will basically be a database of any thing that I do in MS Office.

I am running XP Pro SP2 with Office 2003 and Frontpage 2003.

I was told I would need to install IIS, which I did, I mean, I just installed it. Now what. Is there any documentation anywhere - on this site? - that will get me started and going in the right direction.

How to host multiple SSL sites using multiple network cards

Hi,

I've been trying to get this working for a while but I'm getting nowhere fast!

I've got two websites using separate IP addresses on separate network cards, both with their own SSL certificates. The problem is that windows only allows a single default gateway on one external network card and as such I can only get one site working at one time. (Each network card connects to a different firewall with a different public IP address).

I think I'm missing something obvious, but no matter what I try (static routes mapping each public ip to a particular route - 255.255.255.255 mask) nothing is working.

I know that I can get 2 sites working using a wildcard certificate, but I need to use separate certificates for each site.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Why can't use Copy and Move file or folder in IE6 when connect to a FTPServer

I config a FTP Site in IIS on windows server 2003 ,and set the anonymous which response to the window account Administrator ,it's our intranet ftp site ,make sure every one can manage the ftp file and folder

and we use the IE6 as the ftp client tool to access the ftp site ,

it do can upload and download file and create delete modify folder

but it can't copy or move ile to a folder

what's wrong with it ?

PS . when I use the third party tools to manage the ftp site ,

the copy and move command it works fine

IIS 6.0 Custom HTTP Header issue - URGENT HELP ME

Issue: We have product that will send HTTP POST request to the IIS server. the products were build long back and shipped to the customer location...
So far the products are communicating to the Windows 2000 Server with IIS 5.0 without any issues. now our company is planning to upgrade the servers to 2003. here the issue begins. the products which we manufactured and shipped are not HTTP 1.1 compliance... Assume that in HTTP header its sending Host : 030.120.098.123. the same sort of request is working with IIS 5.0 but IIS 6.0(tried the same with WFetch) rejects the requests with 400 - Bad Request (Invalid Hostname). We cannot change the product software or also cannot perform an product software upgrade...

If i modify the HTTP Host header to 30.120.98.123, then IIS 6.0 allows the request to process it successfully. i tried this option by sending custom HTTP header request through WFetch utility

Could anyone of you guys help me out in resolving this issue programatically? Urgent
