Help! I cannot get an IIS 7 Web Playlist file (isx) to play in WMP using HTTPS

I have a server with Windows 2008 Datacenter Server running IIS 7.0. I have defined a web site in the IIS 7.0 UI and secured it with a verisign Site Pro certificate. I created Bindings to HTTP using port 80 and HTTPS using port 443 and my certificate. I created a virtual directory named Playlists that points to my Data directory I built 3 WebPlaylists in the Data directory using relative paths to the files in the Data/Media directory . Running Windows Media Player 9, 10, 11, I use Open URl and point to one of the playlist files. When I try to use a URL https://dcmedia.mydomian.com/playlists/Playlist3.isx I get a response of "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while downloading the file.". Clicking on Web Help provides the error code - 800C0008 and the description - The download of the specified resource has failed.

Now the weird part. If I turn off the requirement for SSL and Run Windows Media Player using a URL of http://dcmedia.mydomain.com/playlists/Playlists3.isx everything works fine and the file plays. I can get a .wax file to play using https but would love to use Web Playlists instead. Any help, insight, solutions, or magic you can provide would be much appreciated.

WMS Playlist Vs IIS7 Web Playlists

We are using WMS serverside playlist in our application - I just found IIS7 Web Playlists CTP2, I'm trying to understand the difference between these two.

Our requirement is to add advertisements like TV commercials to a main video. I appreciate any inputs on this, mainly the correct platform to use - should it be wms server side playlist or IIS7 web playlist & authentication.

HTTPS avi files won't play in windows media player via IIS7

I have a few avi files I put in an https virtual directory on the server. If I download those files from the server using FTP - I can play them back in windows media player 11 without any issue whatsoever. If I connect to them via https - e.g. https://www.mycompany.com/client/acme/sample.avi - I get an error - which points me here and yet as I said my computer has no problem playing any of the avi files locally - only when I put them up on the server. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/webhelp/default.aspx?&mpver=11.0.5721.5145&id=C00D11B1&contextid=87&originalid=80004005

I can playback WMV files with windows media player 11 that are being downloaded from the same virtual directory on that server. I can also playback quicktime movies (not with windows media player) from that same folder.

I don't know if it matters or not but I can't play asf files with wmp 11 from that same folder although when I download them to my machine they play fine. I'm not concerned about asf files but thought it might help you in diagnosing the issue.
