Manual publish smooth streaming video

Is it possible to manually publish smooth streaming video to IIS? I want to manually copy output files of Enconder and publish them.

When I opened Smooth Streaming Presentations section i failed to find any add buttons or something like that.

Also I want smooth stream files to be published just by uploading them via FTP? Is it possible without any IIS manipulations?

Hi everybody out there

I am looking for a way to prevent that our streaming video content is accessed from other players/clients than ours (wmp/silverlight).
We are also starting up with smooth streaming. So that must also be protected againt hotlink/deep linking.

At this point we are using an application on the streaming servers that validates a tokenized url before serving the stream to the requester. But that application does not work on ws8 / iis7.

I can see that there are some obfuscating feature in the playlist module, that maybe could provide some of this protection. But as I read it that only secures that the content is played in the order specified in the playlist. And what we would need is a way to ensure that we only allow the content to be viewed in our players by validated users.

Is there any way to do this or do we still ned a 3. party application installed on the servers?

Live Smooth Streaming with Expression Encoder 3 and Web Cam

I'm trying to connect a live broadcast with Expression Encoder 3 and a wed cam when I try to connect to Publishing point I get this error Unable to establish connection to server. Ensure Windows Media Services is starter and the HTTP server control protocol is properly enabled is there an article or a walk through out there that will help with setting this up I'm running IIS7 I have media services installed. and has any one see articles on this subject for encoder the help files basically only tell you what properties they have I'm trying to have a web or video cam fire straight up to a web page
like Monday night football encoder seems to have the choice to do this there is a publishing option and a broadcast option I just need to get it to work

Smooth Streaming server encoding

Hi2all!

Smooth Streaming use range of video files with different bitrate. These files are prepared with Expression Encoder, and just placed in appropriate directory.

I want to develop web application, which allow my customers to upload some HD video files to the server. Their encoding for Smooth Streaming will be done on server side, and result is also will be available through HD Silverlight player.

Thereby my customers don't need to work with Expression Encoder - just upload files, and server will prepare them automatically, and other users can view it by SL player.

How can I encode new video files on server side? I need to use Expression Encoder in some "batch" mode, or exist other ways to encode new files?

Of course, but Silverlight cannot handle MBR streams, does not have a controls.currentAudioLanguage property that gives you the LCID of the audio language that currently plays in a multilingual stream, and of course a Smooth Streaming video (that is the future) cannot be streamed from WMS. I don't know if in the next version of WMS and/or Media Services for IIS the gap will be bridged. If Microsoft could announce what is planned for the next version of these services then everyone could make also his plans for the near future.

Web Playlists

Hi,

I've tried today the web playlists functionality of IIS Media Services 3.0 Beta. Unfortunately I didn't found anything that can be used instead of the simulated live functionality of server side playlists of Windows Media Services, like wallclock. Am I missing something? Is it something that will be added in the release version?

Fast seek forward or backward videos is not working on IIS 7.0

I have a problem with IIS 7.0 Media pack 2.

I have a windows server 2008 enterprise server which has IIS 7.0 installed on it. I create a web site and a virtual directory on it. On the virtual directory i placed my video files. My clients are streaming videos from a sharepoint page which refers the video urls of this web server. Up to this point everthing works fine.

My problem is clients cant seek fast forward or backward videos untill it's downloaded by client.I encode that videos on Windows Media Encoder and i indexed them. I mean IIS 7.0 must have fast seek forward and backward videos. What should i do to solve this problem?

Require Login to view streaming content?

Is it possible to password protect the streaming media coming out of IIS Smooth Stream? I want to publish some content using Smooth Streaming and I want to require users to login to view it. If I can't secure it somehow people could view the content without ever logging into the site.

What are my options?

Smooth Stream 4001 Error From ASP.NET MVC Page

Hello,

I am trying to use IIS Smooth Stream to deliver some video content to our customers and I need to protect the video content behind a secured portal. I was able to get IIS Smooth Stream installed and able to use Expression Encoder to encode a video. I used the Big Bunny Default.html page as an example and was able to get a Video.html page to deliver my content via Smooth Stream.

However, when I put the EXACT same HTML that works on the Video.html site into a page that I generated with ASP.NET MVC I get the following error:

System.Exception: 4001 An error has occurred. Requires output to be hsoted on a web server running IIS 7.0 with the Smooth Streaming handler installed and a Silverlight 2 template that supports Smooth Streaming.

Both pages that work and don't work are on the same web server in the same domain. For reference:

http://<portalurl>/Video.html (works)

but

http://<portalurl>/Videos/1 (ASP.NET MVC - doesn't work).

Both of these pages have the <object> tag from the Default.html in the Big Bunny example with the url's changed. Like I said the same exact <object> tag works from the .html page but not the ASP.NET MVC generated page. I thought this would be a client side technology? Why does it matter how I get the <object> tag to the browser?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
