There's plenty of information out there about this error. I haven't seen anything specific to IIS7. The error is random, but after it happens once, it continues for every subsequent request until the site is restarted. We have 3 servers in a farm, this happens on all of them. We are on 2008 64bit. App pool is in Integrated mode and the app pool identity is Network Service. Some pages use impersonation on a different user. I have given both of these users full access to the Temporary ASP folders, there is no active virus scan, indexing is off... I've been working at this for a week and everyday I think its fixed, and every morning I get back in to this happening on a server or 2. Also this is only happening in our production environment, our other environments are not experiencing this.

Some outside systems can not access my OWA site

I have an outlook web access configured and internally i can access the site just fine (https://lvastaffdc.lakeview-academy.com/owa) I am also able to access this with no problems from my home, from other people's homes, and from some colleges and other businesses. However there are some locations that are unable to access my owa site. They get a message saying:

lvastaffdc.lakeview-academy.com is taking too long to respond

I have tried everything i can, i have a SonicWall NSA240 and have even had sonicwall enter my router remotely, and i have had no success in letting these people into my site. I have no idea what is going on, they are not showing in my IIS logs, as ever having touched my system. I am concerned that it is for people who are surfing the web via providers that have a dynamic ip address not static ones.

I can access the site on any machine as long as i am connected here or at my home, but if i take my notebook with me to the other locations i can not access the site and get the same time out, but move the machine to my home, and no problem.

Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I have been researching this for weeks and have not been able to find a solution. i would really like to get this taken care of before my board president comes back from vacation.

Intermittent HTTP 500.19 error

We are currently running a Windows web server with approximately 250 sites and are recieving an intermittent 500.19 error, which affects a random selection of sites, and it affects ASP, ASP.NET and sites with naked HTML.

We see the following error when we view an effected site (apologies for munging):

This is often accompanied in the event log with an event with the message :

Could not load all ISAPI filters for site 'DOMAIN.CO.UK'. Therefore site startup aborted

I've previously seen a similar error reported at the link below, but this does not seem to help us as changing the MaxCmds registry entry seemingly has no effect.

The web server is Windows Server 2008 and the UNC share is a RHEL box with samba, site authentication is set to a specific domain user, asp impersonation is enabled, and all sites have individual application pools with their identity configured to the specific domain user.

When we run Network Monitor, we seem to find packets indicating that Windows has failed to send packets it's requested a response from for an affected site, however the network is running at 30-50% of available bandwidth and very occasional TCP sacks seem to be unrelated to this problem.

I would appreciate if any one could point me in the right direction.

Erractic behaviour with IIS7

Thank you for reading this post, I am at my wits end.

I am migrating a site from IIS4 to IIS7. I have converted all content to ASP and adjusted permissions etc.

The site loads properly except for one thing. The header image which is a static link appears the first time you load the page and will not appear on any subsequent loads using Refresh. If I change the "content-type" meta field the image will load again... once then it no longer displays. Edit the "content-type", again it loads once...

I've been bouncing between
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
and
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
to recreate the displayed image but I can't leave it on either setting.

Here is the referenced image code:

I have enabled Parent Paths of course so it can recurse properly.

Thoughts anyone?
Other pages keep the header image correctly.

Surfing via the top navigation you will find random header and content images just not appearing and I am certain that the permissions are not the issue.

The count of this 404 error sometimes crossing 50,000 . Could you please suggest what is the exact category of reason for this 404 error? And the resolution for the same. w3wp.exe hits 100% cpu usage after migrating to the new server

Hi,

I have a weird problem. My asp.net webservice application was running on Windows Server 2008 edition which was a virtual machine and there were no problems. After setting up the new real server with Windows Server 2008 installed on it, we set the web service URL setting for the clients applications to run over the new server. Surprisingly I've noticed that the IIS worker process consumes 100% CPU. For information: I've only 1 web service instance running on the server.

I tried so many workarounds but couldn't find a solution. Any one has idea?

Anyone have any thoughts as to how to get around this? It appears to be benign in that I'm not seeing a negative impact on Production, but these alerts are constant any time that IIS Manager is opened:

Memory issue - RegionUsageIsVAD

I have a question about an IIS app that I am running.

Each instance of that iis app (not workers) chews up 500MB of memory, which is allocated to something called "RegionUsageIsVAD".

I did some research on this and it seems like 512MB is the default value for RegionUsageIsVAD in .NET version 2.0.50727.1433 (correct me if I am wrong).

Anyone turning on virtual memory recycling at a level less than 500MB + app normal use causes constant recycling and constant performance issues. Even setting this to the MAX of about 1.4GB (recycle limit) still seems to cause performance issues with the site, even though the event log no longer reports any recycling cycles.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Is this a general IIS / .NET issue? how can this be fixed? All help would be greatly appreciated.

Localhost OK, but website not avail from Internet

My website has been working well for about 2 years, Vista Ultimate SP1, IIS 7. Suddenly a week ago it stopped. If I type in localhost from the server it loads the website. But if I try to visit the site from my laptop (all PCs are on the same router) then it doesn't load. I shut off the firewall (Norton 360 v 2) and bypassed the DNS servers, confirmed with my ISP that they are not blocking anything, they did PING and TRACEROUTE (all OK) to my IP: 96.51.156.232 . So if you try to get to my IP address (www.bluelagoonislands.com) you should be getting my index.htm for the default website (C:\inetpub/wwwroot\ ). I have gone thru Control Panel, opened Computer Mgmnt, SERVICES, ensured that WAS and IIS were running--tried to RESTART the default web site in the IIS Manager. I have gone through my Linksys router settings carefully as this is where I suspected the problem, but can't find it. (All other internet functions work, Limewire, etc.). A week ago I installed I-TUNES with BONJOUR ... which has some known issues with VPN, and although this is approx when my problem started, I uninstalled those programs. I even used Norton Ghost to retemplate my machine PRIOR to having installed I-TUNES/BONJOUR, so I tried to rule out a Port 80 conflict. One last thing I noticed during some checking in IIS: under the TEST CONNECTION button, I found this: *** The server is configured to use pass-through authentication with a built-in account
to access the specified physical path. However, IIS Manager cannot verify whether the
built-in account has access. Make sure that the application pool identity has Read
access to the physical path. *** But I'm not sure how to resolve that (if that is indeed the problem). Now then...after all this info, can anyone help me, let me know what I have forgotten to check? Thanks, Vincent
