Disk or Network Error in Windows 7, Please help

Yesterday I upgrade my PC's OS from Vista to Seven Ultimate. After I turned on IIS feature, web applications on my machine do not work anymore. Disk or Network Error appear when I opened pages. I followed every steps of setting up from IIS's Blog (http://blogs.iis.net/bills/archive/2007/05/21/tips-for-classic-asp-developers-on-iis7.aspx). Classic ASP worked fine when I used Vista, but not work in Windows 7. Please help me to make my Classic ASP pages to run on WIndows 7, Thanks

WordPress install fails to download MySQL

Using Web Platform Installer 2.0, trying to install WordPress application. The installation fails to download the MySQL Windows Essential 5.1. The log file shows :

DownloadManager Error: 0 : Error while downloading file 'http://mysql.llarian.net/Downloads/MySQL-5.1/mysql-essential-5.1.39-win32.msi'. Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: Url 'http://mysql.llarian.net/Downloads/MySQL-5.1/mysql-essential-5.1.39-win32.msi' returned HTTP status code: 404

Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you

Logging directly to database

Hello,

is it possible to lo store logs generated by advanced logging to database? I have found that default ii7 logging does not support this feature, but I did not find information if it is or it is not possible in advanced logging.

Two identical iis sites: one says 'The query is not updateable'

I have an intranet webserver functioning fine on a PC with windows 2000 and a hacked version of IIS 4.0 to give 40 connections. The machine is not on a domain and does not log onto the network but is obviously accessible to site.

There is now a requirement where certain site users wish to VPN to the network and connect to the sites and the route taken was to move everything over to a dedicated webserver that is on Windows server 2003 and IIS 6. but the resulting site is sooo slow that, at present, it is not usuable ( think it may be due to it being a virtual server run by VMWare but that is another issue).

Whilst we address that, I created another site on a network XP Machine, running iis 5.1 and mapped a drive to the original Windows 2000 machine. The result is I have two sites running from the same databases: the windows 2000 is stable and fast and the XP slower and a little wobbly.

The issue I have is the XP machine will display pages but will not update any and gives the 'The query is not updateable'. The exact same web pages run fine on the other server and so I have concluded it is a permissions issue BUT...

i) I have setup/changed the IIS anonymous user of both machines to use the same name and password.

ii) Given full access to the anonymous user to the entire Windows 2000 machine that hosts the original site and MSAccess databases.

iii) The XP anonymous user has access to the Windows 2000 machine.

Does anybody have suggestions?

Hi, Thanks a lot for the prompt reply. I was afraid I was going to get that answer though :( Is there any way I can come to know some detail about it? Are there any details of communication stored somewhere on the IIS? Or even if they are stored on the Operating System of the server on which IIS is installed I could get them maybe. Finding database information for IIS Applications

Hi,

I am working for a Product for which I want to find the Topology of an IIS Server. Basically right now using WMI Classes I am able to get the following information:-

Applications (Websites) on the IIS

Application Pool

IIS Server itself

However I also want to find out about the database which the applications might be using. Is there any way I can do that? Is it present in the Metabase.xml file? I doubt that there are any WMI classes for the same.

Please help.

Any request to any slightly incorrect piece of ASP code seems to do this. IIS simply stops responding to all requests for ASP - although it will happily continue serving HTML pages.

It seems more often than not that the faulty piece of code is something to do with ADO - perhaps a connection to a database which has been moved etc.

It seems to have stopped - at least for my development site - ever since I created it a new application pool and then disabled ASP server-side debugging. I don't have a clue why that would interfere - but I'm still monitoring it to check that has actually solved it.

If you have any further suggestions though, they are much appreciated :)

Access DB connection Error

I developed a piece of software on my old machine using IIS on Server 2003 (Virtual PC Platform) and have moved it to my new machine to play with. Unfortunately, MSVPC not installable on Vista so using IIS 7. Although I am able to display ASP pages, I am not able to process any information from the access databaes Im using in the back end.

Original message being returned was along these lines:

Problem occured whilst processing URL. Please contact System administrator

Followed advice in other threads on this forum and turned off friendly error messages, this was then returned:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Disk or network error.

The code line it is refering to is of course the db connection opening, so here is the code and all lines before pertaining to it:

            accessDb = "eBug.mdb"

            myDSN = "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};"
            myDSN = myDSN & "DBQ=" & server.mappath(accessDb)

            Set dbConnection = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
            dbConnection.Open myDSN - this is line 40

Figured that it was because I was using an Access 2003 database and only have Office (including Access) 2007 on this machine. (is this assumption correct???)

Downloaded & installed the Access Database Connection stuff from the microsoft website, saved the original db as an Access 2007 DB and changed the connection settings to this:

            accessDb = "eBug.acccdb"

            myDSN ="Provider = Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;"
            myDSN = myDSN & "Data Source = " & Server.mappath(accessDb)

            Set dbConnection = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
            dbConnection.Open myDSN

New error message now:

Microsoft Office Access Database Engine error '80004005'

Unspecified error

Dont worry that its in a different file, all my files were using the same connection settings to the same database, I am only using this one as an example as it is the one open at this time.

Every user on the machine has full control to this folder, have even run the grant user access command prompts posted in other threads.

Still have no idea why I cannot access information in the database. If you need any more information please let me know and ill happily post it, really hope someone can help me out with this.

BTW - was I correct in having to upgrade the DB to Access 2007 one, would be really really handy if i didnt have to and could still use 2003 (even if i dont have office 2003 installed) as a lot of my old projects that use access as their DB are configured to access a 2003 DB using the first method shown here.

I've looked at all the posts I can find on this problem and tried all of the fixes but I'm still having a problem. The error I'm getting is:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

Since I'm using a MS Access 2007 database it looks like I need to use the ODBC driver. When I sent up the recordset I can run a test and get all the data. It just doesn't allow me to display the asp page.

I will be forever greatful for any and all help!

IIS 7 VISTA OS Database Insert/ Update/ Delete Fails

I have a classic ASP application recently moved our development environment from XP to Vista Business.

The application uses ActiveX DLL's to access data from a SQL 2000 box.

This application is currently running on IIS 7 from a vista business copy.

When I try to access the website from a Vista Machine, it reads the data from the database but when it tries to insert or update the records on the database it fails and gives me the following error:

"3421 Application uses a value of the wrong type for the current operation"

It is happening with all the functions and sub procedures.

But the weird thing is when I access the same website from an XP/2000/2003 machines it just works fine.

If we deploy the application on IIS 6.0 and access it from Vista the database operations works fine.

I am really stumped on this one.

I appreciate if someone can help me.
