Launch phase problem

Hi,

I am experiencing an issue where WPI hangs, not even getting to the point where the product list is downloaded. When I run WPI I get the progress bar with 'please wait while we load the latest web platform products' message. This just sits there indefinitely (I have left it running overnight with no progress).

I am running XP Professional SP3.

I have tried the various combinations of proxy settings in the WebPlatformInstaller.exe.config file.

I have downloaded the WebProductList-beta.xml file and put it in the application's directory.

The latest windows updates have been applied and I am running WPI without any other programs running.

I am now at a loss as to what the problem is and it is driving me mad! Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks,

Re: web platform installer - Says I've succeeded but get server error

I am installing the Acquia Drupal stack via the MS Web Platform Installer. I'm working via Remote Desktop on a Windows 2003 Server running IIS 6. It already had PHP 5.25 and MySQL 5.0 AND PHPMyAdmin install successfully.

I ran the installer, and got a slew of programs that I did not want, and those were installed successfully. It took me three tries to get the Acquia Drupal installed "successfully" according to the WPI. However, when I attempt to run install.php....I get a 500 server error. and no matter what I do, the best I can get is a 404...page not found.

Any assistance would be appreciated. It was obviously NOT a successful install. Thanks, WCW

Hi Guys,

I used the Web Platform Installer 2 Beta version a few weeks back and had some initial feedback from then;

When a install fails - I have to re-download the package from the server even though I just downloaded it - it'd be nice if it just used the local version.

Common install fails are due to databases not being connected properly
- it'd be nice if there was a way of checking databases/connections strings will work before getting it installed and having it fail at that point and having to restart again.

When installing two applications at the same time it doesn't allow for multiple sites in IIS but tried to put them under virtual directories in one site.

Apart from these small issues the web platform installer is a great way to set up a plain box with the right dev tools.

Problems in downloading Acquia Drupal using WPI 2.0 Beta

We are using Windows Server 2008 Web Edition 64 bits with IIS7.0 using Microsoft Web Platform Installer 2.0 Beta to download Acquia Drupal from microsoft Web Gallery.

During installation, we have encountered the following error:

We're sorry. The following components have failed to install.

1. MySQL Connector/Net5.2

This product did not install successfully: Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel.

Our Problem: We have installed MySQL 5.1.33 recently and install important database into it. We have also created drupal database and create user named druapal and password drupal as recommended by drupal.org documentation. We are also give full access right to drupal user.

Question 1: Are we able to keep the existing MySQL database and continue with the Acquia Drupal installation? How do we bypass the downloading problem? How do Acquia Drupal connect to the drupal database?

can't connect to anything in web platform

hello, every time I try to connect to localhost I keep getting this error: (the dutch text only says
can't load the file Microsoft.Web.Administrator, Version=7.0.0.0, Culture-neutral, PublicKeyToken=<long number> or one of it's dependancies. the system can't find the file) but I don't know why it keeps giving this error, I also don't think it will help to retype my credentials as it can't find a file which it also wont if I do that anyone else does know what is wrong?

Web Platform Installer 2.0 Beta - a mess?

Guys

I gotta say this. I just TRIED to use this new installer and it is a mess. I do not think it is at 'beta' stage yet. I know it is supposed to be beta, I know it is doing a lot of complex configuration. None of the web apps installed and the installer was full of errors.

Neither was it communicative or indicative of specific errors, such as why it would not, could not create packages in my default user profile. Neither were requirements notified either. I believe I have all required elements anyway but how am I supposed to know? Not good and not up to usual standards even for a beta.
