Can I make this app in IIS?

Hi,

I'm thinking of making a web application using VS2008 but I don't know if it is possible to configure IIS to make it work. Suppose I have the contoso.com domain, the app needs to do the following:

if a user navigates to www.bob.contoso.com, the page displays: "Hello Bob". I don't know the user's name in advance and the pageaddress should remain as it was typed.

Any ideas?

WPI Applications tab no show...

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate with no service packs. I am successfuly connected to the internet and I am wanting to try and run a small LAN server here at my house.

I would like to be able to use not only ASP.net but also PHP with my small home sites so I have turned to WPI for a great and easy install of PHP on IIS 7.0 for me.

Now that I have it installed I started it up and there is NO Web Applications tab at all; showing up on the GUI. I am running it on a 1gb RAM , with a 40gb hd on it. I don't know if that helps you but I still can not figure out this problem? Do you think if i update my computer to SP1 that this will fix this problem?

I don't really want to update because of my slow internet conection but I will if you all think it would help me any. Thank You in Advance:)

Enabling 32-bit application Mode in IIS7

I have a large number of applications hosted on a Windows 2003 32-bit OS server , which I'm migrating to IIS7 on a Windows 2008 64-bit new server. Some of these applications are using a 32-bit DLL and that's why I enabled 32-bit application mode for the application pool in order to get them run correctly , otherwise I'm getting an error...

I cannot get a 64-bit version of this DLL

What benefit would I loose if I run those applications in 32-bit mode instead of using the default 64-bit mode ?

I am getting this error while accessing my page

Runtime Error

I have changed customErrors to Off, and still get the initial Server Error in '/' Application. What else could be wrong?

Is it required to re-register the asp .net frame work(aspnet_regiis -i)...........?????

Please tell me what should i do for this error.

Finding home directory for IIS applications using WMI

Hi,

I want to find out the home directory i.e the directory which contains the web.config file related to an IIS application.

The directory I am reffering to can be viewed through IIS Manager by clicking on the "ASP .NET" tab and is listed next to "File Location"

I wanted to know if this property can be viewed using any WMI class / property in the root\MicrosoftIisv2" namespace. I am doing development in Java.

Please help.

Finding database information for IIS Applications

Hi,

I am working for a Product for which I want to find the Topology of an IIS Server. Basically right now using WMI Classes I am able to get the following information:-

Applications (Websites) on the IIS

Application Pool

IIS Server itself

However I also want to find out about the database which the applications might be using. Is there any way I can do that? Is it present in the Metabase.xml file? I doubt that there are any WMI classes for the same.

Please help.

Application development guide for IIS 7.0

Hi,

I am looking for some information about IIS 7.0 in terms of application development. What I mean is that I want to get some guideline on developing applications running on IIS 7.0. I've searched on google but the majority of websites/documents are about IIS 7.0 config and form a web server side point of view. I am hoping to find a doc or reference which tells or recommends application developers what they should do or not do when designing an app running on IIS 7.0 in order to make the most out of it. It can be a general guide or ASP.NET focus, for example.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thousands of w3wp.exe

Hello,

I have a serious problem and could use some help. I have taken over an application that was written in .net 1.1 and is using Nhibernate to connect to DB2 on the AS400. The problem I have is that whenever the seesion is over or abandoned the connect stays established to the port on the AS400 port 8471. By right around 4:30 pm I actually run out of user ports on my w2k3 machine ( user ports are 1025 - 5000 by default). I have added MaxUserPort and changed it to 65534. But that does not fix my underlying problem of all these abandoned Open ports. I can get the sessionid but is there anyway to correlate the ports being opened to the sessionid so I can manually close them when the session is ended. Or is there any code I can put in my Global.asax to kill or close the ports associated with that session. I have sent weeks on this issue and it will only get bigger. I have thought about changing for inproc to stateserver or sqlserver that way I can recycle the w3wp.exe in the memory pool without kicking everone off the server, but the original programmer serialized everything within the code, and I don't klnow what will happen to Nhibernate if I remove serilization from the code and change the state . Get the file location of the web.config of the configured directories in IIS

if i open the properties of the IIS configured directories i can see the file location of the web.config of the configured directory under the asp.net properties tab.

i want to get this file location programmatically of all the configured directories in my IIS by .net 2.0 application .

can i do it??

any help is appreciated...
