Here i had some problem with my web.config file in the root of the website on the production server.

I created one website for my application assume "MySite". Under this i had some other applications assume like "MySubSite1" and "MySubSite2".

When i access MySite its working fine. But when i access MySubSite1 or MySubSite2 it is giving some web.config compilation errors. Here the problem is it is taking the values from root web.config. Here i am pasting the error even....

IIS settings for URL rewriting without dummy directories?

Hi,

I have a client that has a multilingual website at a webhost with very limited access to the IIS. As a result we have been forced to use some very annoying hacks to get our url rewriting to work (we need that for the numerous languages the website supports). It's really a classic. For each rewrite we have we need a dummy directory with a dummy default.aspx file in it.

For example if we want our url to be http://domain.com/de/hello/ and http://domain.com/uk/hello/ we "physically" need to have the directories de/hello/default.aspx and uk/hello/default.aspx even though the end up serving the same file => hello/default.aspx

As you can imagine this is a lot or work when there are 30 supported languages. Therefore my question is if it is possible to make a somewhat simple IIS setting change (simple because then hopefully the webhost will allow it) so we can discard the above cumbersome url rewriting hack.

Hopefully someone understood my somewhat lacking explanation.

ASPX pages run only on Classic pipeline not Integrated pipeline

Recently upgraded my web server from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 and discovered that most of my aspx pages were broken. The only way, thusfar, I've found to fix the problem is to either set up a website in the Classic .NET AppPool or set up the website in its own App Pool and make sure the Managed Pipeline Mode is set to Classic.

I have not discovered how to get an aspx page to work in integrated mode. I just get a HTTP error 404, File not found.

ASP.NET DropdownList failed in IIS 7

I am using Windows Server 2008 to deploy a website based on ASP.NET.

This websited contains a simple "DropdownList" and a "Label", when the index of "DropdownList" is changed, the text of "Label" is changed. The codes are as follows:

Default.aspx:

It works fine using Visual Studio 2008 ASP.NET Development Center(e.g. http://localhost:2837/Default.aspx) , when the dropdownlist's index changes, the label's text changes as well.

However, when the web application is deployed under IIS 7, error occurs.When the dropdownlist's index changes, the label's text does not change at all.

I just using the Default Web Site->add application(Classic .NET AppPool) and where is the problem?

ASP.NET Application deployment problems

First, I would like to know, if my application works perfectly under the development server comes with VS2005, does it mean I could successfully deploy my application under IIS (5.1) ? Or it is not always the case?

Second, I have the following configurations in my web.config file:

it works perfectly under the development server with vs 2005

but it doesn't work very well under IIS. IIS did transfer the request to default.aspx to my custom handler. but not the paths like "get", "post", or "logout"

instead it returns me the error 404 resource not found.

So which means the IIS 5.X or 6.0 can not deal with the requested files without extensions?

like in my case, the full URL is

http://localhost/get?page=home

the IIS was unable to route the requests to my handler class, instead gives me the 404.

anyone can help?

My application is XML based, customized the web application, It only contains the default.aspx page. I generate the rest by my application. So I have to redirect all the requests such like

http://localhost/XXX/get?page=home to my handler to handle it.

Can someone help please?

IIS7 & vista UserSpecific Credentials for access to remote SQL server

Hello all,

I have been fighting with my computer over this for quite some time, so any help you can provide it greatly appreciated.

I am running Vista and IIS7 on my dev computer with a connection to SQL server 2005 on a remote server. I am part of a larger development network, and we all use the same username/password to access the SQL server.

However, when I access the application pools in IIS7 and enter the UserSpecific credentials under advanced settings, my computer responds with "The specified password is invalid." I have double checked this password numerous times, and I know for a fact it is correct.

When I view localhost on my computer it displays the error

Application configuration in IIS 6.0 for ASP and ASP.Net

Hi,

I am having trouble figuring out which options in IIS apply only to Classic ASP and which option applies only to ASP.Net in general. I am particularly having trouble for the application configuration options that can be reached by clicking website properties --> home directory --> configuration button--> all the tabs in there.

Do all of these options only apply to classic ASP and not ASP.Net?

Do all options here apply to classic ASP but only some apply to ASP.Net? If this is true, which ones apply to ASP.Net

Do all options apply to both classic ASP and ASP.Net?

Is there a document that describes these options?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Trouble using BITS to download VB, ASP and ASPX files

I am developing an application that uses Background Intelligent Transfer Service 2.5 to download and upload files on a Windows 2003 Server machine. The nature of the application requires that it store any type of file, include scripts that IIS recognizes. I know that for some distrusted types, such as CMD files, I must add a MIME-Type to the virtual directory I'm using. This does not work for other files, in particular VB, ASP, and ASPX files. Although changing the extension of these files is possible, I'd rather avoid doing that.

I can upload files of this type without issue. When trying to download them, however, I get the following error:

The client does not have sufficient access rights to the requested server object.

The error message I get when trying to download the file through IE is:

Internet Explorer cannot download ...Internet Explorer cannot open the requested site...

I've tried adding MIME-Types for these extensions, allowing script source access and I'm using the administrator's account for the server.

Is what I'm trying to do possible?

ASP works fine but ASP.NET doesn't - IIS7 (Vista)

I have ASP.Net checked in windows features, I have two mappings for *.aspx: one with PageHandlerFactory-Integrated using System.Web.UI.PageHandlerFactory module, and another one using PageHandlerFactory-ISAPI-2.0 using IsapiModule. The Application Pool is using DefaultAppPool with Integrated Managed Pipeline. The I am unable to run .aspx pages. I am getting the following error:

HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error

Description: Handler "PageHandlerFactory-Integrated" has a bad module "ManagedPipelineHandler" in its module list

VISTA Business IIS7 just will not work

Ok, now listen guys:

I am the one who started this thread and after 2 weeks ther had been no good simple solution to my problem. why is that? Maybe some of you guys are just geniuses or maybe this problem has no simple solution! I dshould not have to be a genius. this should jsut work. I'm gonna thow my pc and vista in the dumpster! I'm done with it all!

Do you all understand that this should never, ever be this complicated or technical! It should just work period.

I should never have to go into the registry error tracing and so forth and so on and do all this technical stuff just to get II7 to work. Surley bill gates didn't think that joe schmoe could figure all of this out, when i'm an it guy and can't.

When i find out the simple answer that works and always works, then i will be satisfied. I have had my new vista pc for 3 months and i am yet to develop a classic ASP webiste on it becuase it doesn't run.

This is freakin redicolous.

The one guy that said in an earlier post that he had the solution ofr me to impress my boss,, well

It was so technical, application pools, what the heck is that? why do i need to know about it

I just want to see this show up: "Hello world! this is an ASP page" when i broswe my localhost server.

I think maybe i will look for a third party free solution to this.

Surly there are other ASP webservers that will work with vista better than this.

It's obvious that most people in this thread are confused, frustrated, upset and P'OD!!!!

I am still looking for a simple answer, like go here and click such and such and II7 will work!

If i do not get an awser, here I am going to ditch the thing.

Who runs this forum anyway and why don' they have a simple solution? It's probably becuase they do not know either or beucase there is no simple solution. II7 should have worked when i booted up my PC for the first time! in iis6

can i go back to iis6 in Vista?
