Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help, we have just migrated our systems from IIS5 (W2K) over to windows 2008, we have had a couple of problems, most of which we have sorted. The last problem we are having is to do with the way in which IIS7 treats folders.

Previously i could browse to http://sitename/folder and the default.asp within that folder would work. Now i have to go to http://sitename/folder/ in order to achive the same thing. This may sould trivial but this is causing us some problems.

Does anyone know of a workaround for this? I have try searching but it's difficult to know what to search for.... hence my post...... i'll continue googling (with my fingers corssed that someone out there can help!)

ASP Error Code 0147 & ASP_CLIENT_DISCONNECTED in IIS7 Trace Log

We had migrated a calssic ASP application from IIS 5.0 to IIS 7.0 a little while back. As time goes on, I am seeing greater system utilization as a whole on the IIS 7 box than we ever really did on the IIS 5 box. I also have ASP error being logged to the Windows Event log, and have been noticing a fair number or errors on a regular basis - on top of which, every now and again we will start to get strange random errors from ASP pages... like DB connections failing for no apparent reason, etc.

So, I am starting to take a close look at all of this to try and determine root causes.

I have enabled Failed Request Trace Logging, and have been reviewing these logs all day today. One thing I am seeing quite a bit of is :

ASP_CLIENT_DICONNECTED
ASP_LOG_ERROR LineNumber="", ErrorCode="ASP 0147", Description="500 Server Error"

This seems to happen for random ASP pages with random querystrings... I am not able to see any patterns to it...

Anyway, I have not found too much information on this error and how to properly interperet it. TechNet says: "The client disconnected while the request was on the ASP queue." which is great, but not all that verbose.

What could cause clients to disconnect so frequently in this manner? Networking in general seems to be fine on the server - NIC / drivers / cables / switch, etc. all seem good.

If anyone has any advice or experiences I would greatly appreciate it...

No Useful Error Messages Appear

Hello,

We don't have any useful error messages appearing with classic ASP and IIS 7. We're trying to have errors with line numbers and specific codes for debugging purposes.

Errors on my local browser are all "500 - Internal Server error". The same error on the server is "HTTP 500 the website cannot display the page".

In IIS, Calculate line numbers, Enable Client-side debugging, Enable Server-side debugging and send errors to browser are all set to true. In my IE, Disable Script Debugging is unchecked. Show friendly error messages, has been tried off and on.

We've spent days on this to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another Classic ASP & IIS 7 Issue

Like most, I've been trying to set up classic asp and IIS7 on my Vista laptop for about 27 days now. I've done every tutorial step by step again and again but nothing works. including these steps:

I keep getting the:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Unspecified error

Does anyone know what else I can do to get this going?

Http 500 - Internal Server Error

I am using classic ASP to browse my site. I have a page 'neighbors.asp' from which onsubmit event I need to send a mail. I have created a script page 'sendmail.asp' for coding the mail and set this as an action on neighbors.asp

Once I fill all details on neighbors.asp and click on submit, I receive the following error:

This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.

When I have disabled "Show friendly Http Errors" from Internet Options, I got the following msg:

An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator.

I discovered a solution. If I change the included filename's extension to anything other than 'inc' and 'asp', it works.

I am having a nearly identical problem. My classic asp pages work until I use one of the Application, session or server objects, then I get the '8002901d' error as well. Checking Event Viewer / Windows Logs / Application, I have the following entry each time the page is executed

"Error: The Template Persistent Cache initialization failed for Application Pool 'ASP.NET 1.1' because of the following error: Could not create a Disk Cache Sub-directory for the Application Pool. The data may have additional error codes.."

These asp pages worked fine until I installed Vista Service Pack 1, then all fail. I've already lost the restore point to before SP1 was installed, and uninstalling SP1 did not resolve. I've tried every suggestion I could find on the web for IIS 7 setup, but nothing so far has fixed this for me.

ASP Detailed Error Messages

Greetings,

I've got a IIS7.0 web server on our local network here at my office and I'm using it to learn Server 2008 and IIS7 features along with testing our new company website before we push it live.

I was doing some ASP the other day and noticed I could not get the older styled detailed error messages to appear. Even after making sure Send Errors to Browser was turned on I still only got the default error message to appear on the box I was using to access the website.

So far, the only instance where I've gotten the detailed error messages to appears if I accessed the webpage from on the server itself.

I understand the security issues here and really its not a huge deal to remote onto the web server and run my classic ASP on the server's browser but now I'm curious if there is a setting to allow it to send detailed error messages to remote clients?

ASP & MSAccess resulting in HTTP 500 error

I am unfortunate to have to live with Vista on my new laptop and am starting to hate the OS everytime I switch on the laptop.

All my ASP scripts work good on XP but they result in a 500 error even though I have enabled the setting for sending errors to the browser.

I am trying to connect asp file on local host on vista ultimate using iis7.

I am getting error |9|80004005|[Microsoft][ODBC_Microsoft_Access_Driver]_The_Microsoft_Jet_database_engine_cannot_open_the_file_'(unknown)'.__It_is_already_opened_exclusively_by_another_user__or_you_need_permission_to_view_its_data.

I have created DSN connection using odbcad32 in syswow64 folder . As a user of admistrator group I have permission to access database. I am using the following code in asp file.
