Another Classic ASP & IIS 7 Issue

Hi,

Like most, I've been trying to set up classic asp and IIS7 on my Vista laptop for about 27 days now. I've done every tutorial step by step again and again but nothing works. including these steps:

icacls %windir%\serviceprofiles\networkservice\AppData\Local\Temp /grant Users:(CI)(S,WD,AD,X)

I keep getting the:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Unspecified error

Does anyone know what else I can do to get this going?

I am having a nearly identical problem. My classic asp pages work until I use one of the Application, session or server objects, then I get the '8002901d' error as well. Checking Event Viewer / Windows Logs / Application, I have the following entry each time the page is executed

"Error: The Template Persistent Cache initialization failed for Application Pool 'ASP.NET 1.1' because of the following error: Could not create a Disk Cache Sub-directory for the Application Pool. The data may have additional error codes.."

These asp pages worked fine until I installed Vista Service Pack 1, then all fail. I've already lost the restore point to before SP1 was installed, and uninstalling SP1 did not resolve. I've tried every suggestion I could find on the web for IIS 7 setup, but nothing so far has fixed this for me.

IIS7 and Classic ASP, error 'ASP 0178 : 80070005' when calling "CreateObject"

I am about to shift my development from XP to Vista X64 Ultimate and was trying to setup one of our older webapps on IIS7.
This webapp is a mixed project with both C#/ASP.NET and old classic ASP pages that call COM+ objects created in VB6.
These VB6 COM objects then use ADODB to connect to a SQLServer2005 database and returns ADODB.Recordset's to the ASP page for further presentation in the response page.

I have registred all the VB6 DLL's under "Component services" just as we always have done on XP and Win2003 X64 (where our app works fine)

But on Vista and IIS7, I get a permission error on the CreateObject line.

Can anyone help me out here? I think I have tried everything by now, including giving "Everyone" full permission to the DLL files.

I'm about to lose my mind here, this is so frustrating.

Ok, now listen guys:

I am the one who started this thread and after 2 weeks ther had been no good simple solution to my problem. why is that? Maybe some of you guys are just geniuses or maybe this problem has no simple solution! I dshould not have to be a genius. this should jsut work. I'm gonna thow my pc and vista in the dumpster! I'm done with it all!

Do you all understand that this should never, ever be this complicated or technical! It should just work period.

I should never have to go into the registry error tracing and so forth and so on and do all this technical stuff just to get II7 to work. Surley bill gates didn't think that joe schmoe could figure all of this out, when i'm an it guy and can't.

When i find out the simple answer that works and always works, then i will be satisfied. I have had my new vista pc for 3 months and i am yet to develop a classic ASP webiste on it becuase it doesn't run.

This is freakin redicolous.

The one guy that said in an earlier post that he had the solution ofr me to impress my boss,, well

It was so technical, application pools, what the heck is that? why do i need to know about it

I just want to see this show up: "Hello world! this is an ASP page" when i broswe my localhost server.

I think maybe i will look for a third party free solution to this.

Surly there are other ASP webservers that will work with vista better than this.

It's obvious that most people in this thread are confused, frustrated, upset and P'OD!!!!

I am still looking for a simple answer, like go here and click such and such and II7 will work!

If i do not get an awser, here I am going to ditch the thing.

Who runs this forum anyway and why don' they have a simple solution? It's probably becuase they do not know either or beucase there is no simple solution. II7 should have worked when i booted up my PC for the first time! in iis6

can i go back to iis6 in Vista?

By the way, I forwared this message to both dell (which i have access to microsoft tech support) and microsoft directly, but they can't seem to get it to work either. Thant's interesting! That means it doesn't work easily!

Is there a simple way to make iis7 work in Vista, because it just doesn't work! Has anyone ever made it work? Why can't I?

I would love to freaking scream, because I have been trying to make this works for two weeks, but I will chill until someone shows me how simple it is! LOL
