Add new website

I have a website built in classic ASP. I have lots of .asp files which only contain <!-- include virtual = "/lib/xyz.asp> and many more # includes.

Now when i try to run my site its gives me an error. I am aware that all those #include files must be pasted under wwwroot with their directory structure intact.

I am currently using windows XP. The website is already deployed on windows 2003 server. In win 2003, when i open IIS i can right click on "Websites" folder and do Add new web site.

Is this possible to do in win xp by changing some configuration. Because in xp every time i add a new website it gets added under default website and the starting point for that website starts from default website. I want the starting point of the website to start from the folder i specified while adding the new virtaual directory in XP.

Is it possible to change the starting point of the web site in XP or allow IIS to support the functionality of adding a new website when i right click on Websites folder in Win XP.

Cannot connect to mysql db 5.1

Hello,

Im using IIS 7.5 with Windows server 2008 r2. I want to open my database, so I used the next connectstring for opening the db:

connect_string = "Driver={MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver}; Server=localhost; UID=username; PWD=pwd; Database=db"

I'm getting this error....

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

What do I have to do to connect to my db?

I've just made a website with asp
however I don't know why an HTTP 500 error is still exist even though I've installed the IIS 5.1

I can open my htmls but can't open the asps,why

When I open it, it just comes out with

Server Application Error

The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance.

when the web is in a frame and

The website cannot display the page

HTTP 500

This post is to help anyone who is having 500 Internal Server Errors with their install of PHP 5.3 on IIS 7 in the Windows 2008 Server environment. I just spent a few hours troubleshooting this and I hope I can help save more hours of the same for others. I looked this up and found a lot of false leads then I came up with a solution which fixes this for me on my server, so I'll list it all here and hopefully people can add to it if I miss anything. Also if my fix falls apart after a while I can post it back here and see if we can all go back and review the steps and at least have a list of what works and what doesn't work.

So this is how it started for me: I just installed PHP 5.3 on my production server Windows 2008 32-bit, I got the download msi installer from http://windows.php.net/download/ the VC9 Non-Thread safe version.

I set everything up with the php.ini fine and it worked fine. But after about an hour using WordPress 2.8.2 I kept getting 500 Internal Server Errors and the detailed description from the server Browser says:

The FastCGI process exited unexpectedly

I tried all the usual fixes, I set the error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED

I also set the date.timezone ="America/Los_Angeles" - don't know if the quotes matter

I also read that setting Write permission for the Anonymous Identity on the wp-content folder fixed this issue but I did that and it does not fix the issue.

Ironically I was doing all of this while creating a write up to install PHP 5.3 on the IIS 7 Windows 2008 Server Platform so I was testing it out on my server as I wrote it.

I followed my instructions and it worked fine but then about every three clicks I got the 500 Internal Server Error.

The odd thing is that if I click the refresh button the page pops up fine without any error, then I can go on for about three or so clicks and I'll get the 500 Internal Error again. Same thing on the Server with the detailed error page, if I click refresh then it's fine for a few more clicks then it happens again.

Then finally I removed the open_basedir = directive for each of my custom PHP web site paths and it worked fine with no more 500 Internal Server Error, and that is what I can report is the fix.

My next guess would have been giving more Memory than the 16 MB allotted via the "more secure" php settings.

There was some fussing around with the Server Handler Mapping and having quotes on it for the Program Files section of the file path to the php-cgi.exe and I set the FastCGI Module to check for the php being a "File or Folder" in the FastCGI settings so I don't know if this helps but just to be complete with my steps I'm including it.

Getting rid of the open_basedir did it for me though, so I hope that helps. If people have issues and want to list what they did or are doing to fix it and if any of what is listed here helps please post a reply and I'll try to keep up with it as much as I can.

Oh and my last point, I was going to stop troubleshooting this, I have a lot of work to do and I was well beyond the "screw it" point, but being a programmer you know that you just can't walk away when the little bugger machines start acting up.

I was about to uninstall PHP 5.3 and go back to what worked - PHP 5.2.9 - but I'm glad I stuck it through, the speed and enhancements from PHP 5.3 are noticeable. If you are frustrated with this, just stick through with this guide and see if we can get others to add to it and have a comprehensive list of issues and fixes for it, PHP 5.3 is really nice and well worth it. After looking at all the Bug reports and angry posts online about PHP 5.3 I just want to get it across that the improvements are worth fixing what ever is bugging the "New" "Just Released" thing, this is the typical hair pulling that comes with the bleeding edge latest and greatest early adopter crowd of anything.

Problem with accessing MsAccess 2000 in iis7 visa business

Hi,

I am using vista business, configured iis7 and created virtural directory under default websites.

When i am trying to access my asp site it is giving me an error " error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator" then I opend Application pools in iis7 > set Application pool defaults> Process Model > Identity and changed idnetity type as Local System where it was Network service by default, then i am abel to open the side.

But while connecting to the data base it is giveing me the same error as shown above.

Can any one help me for the same.

I have vista premium home and IIS 7

I am using dreamweaver cs3 and i beginner to asp.

My problem is that the ie says http 500.

I'm still stuck. I am attempting to instantiate a custom object via Server.CreateObject( "ISDBCom.ISDBManager" ) in the Application_onStart in global.asa. This is working on several other Windows Server 2003 installations. I haven't figured out what's different about this one. I'm getting:

Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a01ad'
Automation server can't create object

The DLL is present, and regsvr32'ed successfully. Possibilities:

File system security related. I've used procmon in the past to troubleshoot file access issues. Using procmon, I see the ProcID is found in the registry. But I don't see where w3wp.exe even attempts to open the DLL. I do see the OPEN on the working servers. I've tried running the AppPool as "Local System", but it still fails.
Not all dependent components are present. Depends.exe returns similar results on both the working and non-working installations. If dependencies are missing will I even see an attempted open via procmon?

Any other troubleshooting ideas? Thanks in advance.

Server.CreateObject http 500 internal error

This is a basic createa text file problem. I used another path to avoid the vista user account permissions as opposed to the wwwroot file, it worked fine with another file "FirstFile.asp" from the book "ASP programming for the absolute beginner". As a beginner, I had to ask... been trying different things for a long time without actually digging to far into IIS programming... please help...

IIS 6 to IIS 7 - DSNless classic ASP connection string need to convert to DSN

Website recently moved from IIS 6 to II7 environment. I have intermittent connection issues pulling data from my sql server and was informed by my web provider that my DSNless connection string was the issue? Here is a copy of my current connection string:
