I just stopped by for an update, but it appears that the conversation has moved to private emails. Does it look like someone will be continuing to move this forward? I'm very excited in hoping someone with the skills and ability has actually adopted this project and we will soon see it available in the installer.

Thanks for your quick reply.
I might add that you need to uncheck the SQL Server option AFTER you select the nopCommerce application.
I'm glad they will be making this a bit more 'intuitive', as this will help make a great tool even better.

When starting to install nopCommerce using the Windows Application Installer, I was asked to accept the license info for several other necessary components, including SQL express (I believe that was the version).
At any rate, I want to use a SQL Server that is not on the Web Server box. I didn't want to install SQL express and it didn't ...

It might behove Microsoft to either do the work or help financially with it getting done. Just a thought.

There is a form on the web site listed the first reply that has a link to a contact us form.
Here is the reply I got back from them, posted here with permission:
In reality, most other open source projects have paid staff. We do not. So we rely on our community to pitch in to achieve what they would like. Perhaps you and other professionals ...

Jake, thanks for that speedy reply. For what it's worth, I just sent them a message encouraging them to consider integrating Joomla with the Gallery and WPI. Maybe if more people did this, it would cause them to realize the value to both communities.

Are there any plans for adding Joomla to the Web Application Gallery and especially integrating it with the Web Platform Installer?
Thanks,
John

Well, I decided to give it a go...the answers to all my questions are:
Yes, you are prompted for everything, including the MySQL server connection info.
WPI is awesome!

If I wanted to use the WPI for installing WordPress for example, PhP and MySQL would also need to be installed. Obviously PhP would need to be installed on the same machine. However, what if I wanted to use a MySQL installation on another Machine? Would I be prompted to install or not install each necessary component or would it install everything ...

LOL. I knew the answer to this would end up being embarrassingly simple.
Thanks.
