I had IIS7 & the Application Server Role installed on my server and just recently I uninstalled the Application Server Role. I restarted the server, looked in IIS and noticed the default site still had all the "net" bindings (net.tcp, net.pipe, net.msmq, msmg.format...). So, I removed the bindings and restarted the server. Quick question:
Is there a way to change the reported "SERVER_SOFTWARE" var in IIS7?
I think Apache can do this and can be a minor but nice step in security.

This could have been caused by some other problems I was having with my server because it's fine now. It just magically started working one day.
I was having a lot of other issues with the move 2008 and after I fixed some of those, it looks like this started working. Could be coincidence but it's working now so I'm ...
