  Well, I have a workaround for my problem but I'm not sure I care for it.  I enabled the Windows Update service, started it, completed my msdeploy install and then disabled the Windows Update service.  I do know at some point in the future this will be set via policy and I won't be able to make these changes to install, hopefully ...

  I am trying to install RC1 of the msdeploy tool on our new Server 08 machines and receive this error every time I attempt to install it.  Company policy has anything dealing with windows updates disabled, am I not going to be able to use msdeploy?   The Windows update  could not be installed because of an error: 2147943458 ...
