   The server didn't have any roles or features. That is, I had already tried removing the WPA service and was still failing to install IIS.  We've since rebuilt the box from scratch, so it's not an issue to me anymore but if I can ever replicate the problem I'll repost here.

   Hi guys, I'm in an identical situation (http://forums.iis.net/p/1155241/1893505.aspx) - IIS install is giving the 0x80070643 error. I will also try the OS repair and see how that goes. We were going to blow away the machine and then start from scratch again but this may save us some time. Brenton

   Hi Steve,  Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately Office is not installed on the box at all. The only other software installed on the box is the Tibco integration suite, specifically Tibco EMS.

   Hi all, Well, I've disabled UAC and logged on via the console (mstsc /v:<servername> /admin) and attempted to install IIS, but still getting the same errors as described above. If anyone can help me decipher what's going on under the hood that'd be great! I can provide the installation report/ServerManager log, application ...

  Hi Steve,  Thanks for your reply! Yes I'm a member of the Administrators group and I'm installing IIS 7 via RDP. I can try disabling UAC and will also try it from console sometime today and let you know the results.   Cheers Brenton
