I had this probel on Vista 64. Turns out, in my case, the performance counter service wasn't running. After starting it and then launching a CMD prompt as admin, then issuing the command lodctr /r the performance indexes were rebuilt. The web installer returned the list of products immediately upon relaunch.

I have 2 servers a 2008 IIS7 member server (not in a domain) and a 2003 server with SQL (member server in a domain). I know the easiest way is to join them both in the domain and use a service account....yep OK . Unfortunately, we cannot do it at this time, so I need an interim solution to be able to connect the ASP application to the SQL ...
