  • Re: IIS 7.0 issue: Classic ASP with dlls, can not read registry setting, worked fine in IIS 6.0

If you know the key that the dll is supposed to access, you might want to consider trying to use ProcessMonitor to watch for processes trying to read this key while you run your app. If there is a permissions problem, you should see a list of "Access Denied" messages in the Result column. If it lists it, right click into properties ...

Forch, The easiest way to do this would probably be through the use of Sysinternal's PsExec.exe application. The PsExec application is used to open a command prompt on a remote machine. Once you are connected to the remote server, you would just need to run the commands to stop and start the sites. Info on PsExec can be found ...

If it was 'in use', then there may be another website or some kind of service conflicting with the port and IP. It doesn't sound like there are any other websites though, from your description, so I'm wondering if some other program might have a web service attached to it that runs outside of IIS. Keep an eye out though, just in ...

Metoooo, The link you provided should work for your system since it lists "Windows Vista", though if you would rather 'play it safe' or for compliance purposes for your organization, you can download the setup program from the link ...

Straputsky,  The very first thing I could think to try would be seeing if you can start the website within IIS. Since the commandline reports that the site is Stopped, this could either be due to an error haivng shut it down, or that it just simply wasn't started when you installed IIS. Please open the Internet Information ...

Hello Anncao, This question has already been addressed at http://forums.iis.net/t/1020448.aspx. In your case though, if the services are not actually starting, there may be an issue preventing them from fully shutting down or starting back up again. You may want to consider using commands to force the related applications to close or even the ...

While this can be done through APIs and VBscripting, if you aren't up to the programming yourself, you might want to look into the Control Panels provided by HELM and PLESK. Many Hosting providers and web resellers use these to quickly handle a lot of the back end administrative footwork needed to create the foundation of a new website. Helm ...

If your ISP has allowed it before, while it is always possible for them to have changed their policy, I'd probably be more inclined to check the settings on your server first. The easiest thing to check would be to ensure that your Windows Firewall is either not turned on or that a port exclusion for TCP 80 has been added. Windows Firewall ...

In my experience, Windows Explorer has never performed well for me for FTP transfers. While I am not certain as to the specific reasons why this is (and I wish I knew a straight forward reason!), I always use a batch file through command prompt or a 3rd party FTP client such as SmartFTP whenever I need to be certain to complete the transfer. At ...
