I have some settings for FastCGI in the registry under:
HKLM\Software\FastCGI\.php
I think this might be left over from a beta release, but I'm not sure. I have the RTM version installed now, and I see that it uses an INI file for its configuration. Does this mean I can safely remove these registry settings? Are they still needed?

No problem - It's not your fault. :) I must be doing something wrong. But I got MailEnable working as an SMTP relay, so I'm happy that I at least got something setup.

I don't run active directory and I don't have anything in the Smarthost field. I'm assuming that my ptr records are setup correctly because it's only the Microsoft SMTP server that doesn't work, my MailEnable server works without having to change any settings except allowing 127.0.0.1 to relay. I think I am going to give up on the ...

I tried removing the IIS SMTP service, then re-adding it. I left all the configuration default, except I allowed 127.0.0.1 to relay. It still doesn't work. Just to make sure DNS and other things were setup properly I re-installed MailEnable, left the configuration default and granted 127.0.0.1 to relay. Bingo - it worked ...

Thanks for the links, but I've tried googling and I really have no idea what the problem even is. For example, Microsoft's solution for the 5.3.5 problem is this:
If you have multiple SMTP virtual servers that are configured on your
Exchange computer, make sure that they are serving unique incoming
ports and that the outgoing SMTP port ...

Cool - thanks for the information. The weird thing is, all of this worked perfectly when I was using MailEnable, but MailEnable used way too much memory, so I thought it would be easy to switch to the IIS SMTP server. Boy was I wrong. :( I checked out smartermail, but I really want to avoid a 3rd party tool, when Windows ...

I just wanted to follow-up with another error I have been receiving in the Event logs.
Message delivery to the remote domain 'townrenowned.com' failed for the following reason: Unable to deliver the message because the destination address was misconfigured as a mail loop.
I have looked into this error, and as far as I can tell my server is setup ...

I have my email hosted by Gmail, and I am trying to setup an SMTP server on my IIS box for relaying email. I used to have the mail server called ''MailEnable'' setup for this tasks, and it worked great. However, I wanted something that took up a little less memory, so I install the IIS SMTP server, and no matter what settings I set I ...
