It is strange that you aren't getting a more detailed error in the browser when accessing the site from http://localhost...usually that is the easiest way to understand what is happening.
Have you checked \inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1 (or if this is not the default site, which ever site you are trying to access) to look at the log files. ...

There is a known issue where OneCare can corrupt the applicationHost.config file. I wonder if it was corrupted and therefore setup could not read/write new settings into it. I would have recommended you uninstall the "Windows Process Activation Service" first, then try re-installing IIS.

What version of PHP are you using? I've heard anecdotally that some people have database connectivity issues with 5.2.6...you might try going back to 5.2.5 to see if it gets any better.

Thanks for your feedback! We're looking at ways to enable the community to package applications to be installed through Web AI and through the Web application gallery. To get a head-start, you may want to check out http://www.iis.net/extensions/WebDeploymentTool More details coming early next year...

Hi Lubas,
it is hard to tell what is happening here with the log info you've sent so far. What is the error returned to the browser? Make sure you turn on errors to browser as instructed here: http://blogs.iis.net/bills/archive/2007/05/21/tips-for-classic-asp-developers-on-iis7.aspx and let us know.

Try changing your error pages setting. Go to 'error pages' feature in IIS Manager. Click on 'Edit Feature Settings' in the right hand pane. Choose "Detailed Errors'.
I haven't tested this, but I think it should work.

Hi Alexander -
Right now we don't have plans to take this down-level to XP or Windows 2003....we're trying hard to get it baked for Vista+.
thanks,

Great suggestion! We're looking at a cmd-line tool for a future release that would enable you to do what you're suggesting and automate installation of custom profiles. thanks!

Actually, it should be there in Vista SP1, you just won't see any new setup component (we included it in the existing CGI setup component), nor will you see it in the UI. To get the new UI, you'll want to install the Administration Pack for IIS Manager here: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/401/using-the-administration-pack/
